Guest guest
Rudraksha & Yoga http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/ <http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/> Most of us have an idea of what yoga is. To the vast majority of us yoga means a form of exercise that involves bending, stretching and breathing. This type of yoga is known as hatha yoga, and it is one of many different types of yoga <http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/Yoga_Systems.htm> . The word "yoga" means "union" or "to join". There are many different yoga systems <http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/Yoga_Systems.htm> . Hatha, as it is widely practiced, focuses on the physical aspect of yoga. The physical aspect of hatha yoga however is only part of the system as hatha yoga practices later progress to include meditation. In Patanjali's <http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/Patanjali.htm> system the physical practices, called asanas, are mentioned as one of the eight limb's of yoga. Asana means "steady posture" and those yogis (male yoga practitioners) and yoginis (female yoga practioners) who have mastered this yoga can hold a single posture for hours on end, without pain and discomfort. Following on from the physical aspect of yoga are stages of pranayama, concentration, and meditation (see the page Meditation 2 <http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/Meditation%202%20-%20Meditation%20as%20Defi\ ned%20in%20Patanjali%27s%20Yoga%20Sutras.htm> for further details). Rudraksha can help in this progression by forming a bridge between regular yoga practice (as most people know it) and progression to the next stages in the deepening of yoga. When regular yoga is practiced correctly it generates and energizes the subtle energy, the prana. <http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/prana.htm> Some of this subtle energy is retained within the Rudraksha, as is the healthy rejuvinating vibration of yoga being performed correctly. Rudraksha are naturally full of energy, but they will also over time absorb energy. In practices in which purified energy is generated, such as yoga and reiki, Rudraksha will hold this energy. This energy can be built up from such practices and this further helps one's practices. When that Rudraksha item that has been permeated by the shakti (energy) from the yoga practice (or reiki too for that matter) is worn, the energy becomes available to the wearer. This is particularly useful when we are feeling low or emotionally upset. Rudraksha will naturally be of benefit during these times, and if it is an item which has became attuned to your personal relaxed vibrations it will further help you to come closer to that state, taking you out of your low or upset emotional state. Therefore it is advisable to wear Rudraksha when performing activities such as yoga, reiki and certainly meditation. The natural energy of Rudraksha and the additional shakti that has been absorbed will help make quality meditation far easier to slip into.
