Guest guest
Namaste Fylgjarunester, the Meditation Dress being for wearing on different parts of the body to attain Rudra-hood which is also Shiva-hood (God-hood or God Realization), is very suitable for Raja Yoga. Its the royal path of mind control. Its also the most comprehensive and scientific approach to God Realization. The precepts and doctrines of this ancient science were first compiled and explained by Patanjala Maharshi. As a system for probing the mind, its a method of self-enquiry that takes a person through personal changes step by step. As one progresses along, then comes the various stages of samadhi, the superconscious state. Raja Yoga is extremely lengthy to explain here but firstly understanding that The Self is the 'witness' of all that is perceived but does not act nor react because all action and reaction take place only in the mind of man, appearing as 'Vrittis'. Thought which is the most powerful force in the universe, initiates all action. Actions carried out on the physical plane is only a 'mirror' of the inner workings of the mind. That which is assumed to be 'reality' or even the physical environment in which a person lives, is also only a projection of the mind. In truth, when the numerous 'mental modifications' or Vrittis are restrained, a person is no longer affected by the comings and goings or happenings of the world, and The Self shines forth in undisturbed purity. If unsure, its best to seek guidance from a guru or classically initiated swami who specializes in Raja Yoga. b) You can also try Mantra Japa beginning with Saguna Mantra. c) About Pranayana, its important to seek guidance from gurus, swamis or qualified and experienced practitioners because many Pranayana exercises have precautions for those suffereing from heart or cardiac and some other ailments. However, gentle practise of Hatha Yoga asanas can be performed. Hatha Yoga is the mastery of the body and breath to bring good health by physical and mental purification. It allows mankind to reach our full potential, an objective which can only be achieved if there is balance and harmony between the body and mind. All that said, don't take my word for it. You must explore the possibilities and do some research before deciding on which practice you want to undertake. Concentrate on one practice at a time and master it.
