Dear Siva Baktas,

Lord Siva, the Supreme Lord has His abodes in all three worlds, namely Physical, Subtle and Causal worlds.

It is said that only devotees of Siva are extremely blessed because whichever body we have (Physical, Subtle or Causal body), we can travel to His abode with it. Further it was stated by Saiva Saints that the same Kailas appears differently according to the world we live in and in this world it is known as Mount Kailas. However the eternal Kailas (which is formless) is the one most closest to us than the other three, the location is right at the centre of our Spiritual Heart.

It is impossible for me to believe that without the will of Lord Siva, Mount Kailas came within China area. He only used them as an instrument to carry out His wish. I don’t think Lord Siva (Who prefers to remain alone in deep Samadhi) would want flock of petty devotees to go to Mount Kailas and ask Him for petty material things and moreover I don’t think He would like to see thieving priests around the area in the name of performing rituals emptying devotee’s pockets or would He want to see Pilgrim hotels, restaurants, etc near His abode?.

We know Ravana was a great devotee of Lord Siva who used to go everyday to Mount Kailas to worship Lord Siva. He found this very troublesome. He thought within himself to bring the whole mountain to his abode in Sri Lanka in order to save himself from the trouble of a daily journey to Mount Kailas. He began to pull up the mountain which trembled. Parvati, consort of Siva, got frightened. She embraced Lord Siva. Siva pressed Ravana with His toe and sent him down to the nether world. This shows humans cannot take control of Mount Kailas.

Going to Mount Kailas has always been difficult, in the old days before the invasion of China; devotees had to walk or ride on horses to get to Mount Kailas and only a few devotees actually managed to reach. When saint Appar started on a journey to visit Mount Kailas. He had a tiresome journey. He had severe bruises on his feet. He heard a voice in the sky. It was the voice of Lord Siva. The voice said: “O Appar, wake up. Take a dip in this tank. You will see Me and Mt. Kailas in Tiruvayar (located in South India)”. Appar took a dip in the tank and appeared in a temple in Tiruvayar on the banks of Kaveri. He came outside the tank and saw Siva and Sakti everywhere. He entered the Tiruvayar temple and saw Mt. Kailas and the Lord Siva of Mt. Kailas. Appar rejoiced heartily at the marvellous sight and sang Padigams.

Let us not worry about Lord Siva’s Mount Kailas; He is the Supreme

and more than capable of preserving His own abode created by Himself. Let us worry about preserving abodes we made for Him for the sake of future generations. There were so many man made temples in India that was destroyed by barbarians due to people’s cowardness, they are thousands of temples are in slumping conditions because the money people donate to temples for renovation often get stolen by priests or trust members. There are too many sacred temples in India has been dumped by people due to selfishness and ignorance. Temple like Bhuleshwar (located on a beautiful hill near Pune in Maharashtira) which was bulilt during the era of Pandavas has been almost dumped by people due to ignorance, I realised the greatness of the temple during my recent Pilgrimage, there are thousands of great temples like this in ruin conditions in India.
