Guest guest
Om Nama Shivaya. Osho says Freedom/Freewill is a curse to Human. He narrates the following story of two straws and a river. The river is flowing strongly. One Straw is floating horizontally and one straw is floating vertically. The straw floating horizontally thinks it has to stop the flow of the river and reach its destiny resisting the flow of river. becoz of this will of the horizontally floating straw toils itself against the force and the will of river which doesnot even recognise the will of its presence of horizontally floating straw and it flows by its will towards ocean.Becoz of this the horizontally floating straw trying to work against the will of the river thinks in vain to restrict the flow of the river ending up in sorrow, worries and failure. In contrary, the vertically floating straw thinks it could not stop the flow of the river and floats vertically along with the river singing and dancing, its will which gives a great joy since it doesnot restrict or try to oppose the will of the mighty flowing river or its will. Any way the destiny of both the straw is ocean. The vertically floating straw reached destiny quiet comfortably and with joy. but the horizontally floating straw trying to work against the will of the river reached its destiny with lots of toil, twist and sorrow. Osho explains this story of two straws for the following reason. Even though we are gifted with a free will /freedom ( he says we are cursed with freewill/freedom), the unknown will of the almighty will guide us to the destiny. trying to work against the will of the unknown with the freedom and free will of ours we are supposed to toil and twist with sorrows, and the best way is to go by the will of the unknown, enjoying- singing and dancing without influencing with our freewill/freedom. Shivaya Nama Aum. Thiruchitrambalam. Senthil.
Guest guest
Yes Senthil, its a good point. But I've always felt "free will" is a myth- we never had free will, as we have never been free. We are a part of a larger system, & the only free will we have is to follow the system or not. Tommorow, a cell in our body will say it is free, why should it follow the body? what will happen to the cell- it will be crushed. Our status is the same as that cell- we are like a cell in the body of the Earth, solar system, this Universe, all the Universes combined..... & so on. What free will does such a little insignificant being have? Practically speaking, our Karma from previous lives is like a heavy chain around our neck, which forces us to act in a certain way. As if that wasnt enough, Astral Beings manipulate us. They themself dont want to be born here, as they would have to accept misery & the Law of Nature. So all Devas & Asuras try to play their game by sending us signals subconciously, & trying to manipulate us. Even if we can resists these astral beings, there are Higher forces like Mother Nature(Shakti) & Mahakaal, who have their own plans. We are burdened under all these influences- yet we claim we have free will! Shri Arvind said it best- he said the only free will we have to work for the Divine plan, or not. Shri Krishna said same thing- he said surrender to me all your actions, & I will guide you through this dangerous maze. Most people take this surrender only at an intellecutual level, but until our whole being surrenders, it is incomplete. The world will keep running whether we exist or not. So its better to go with the flow, rather than try to fight the system due to some preconcieved notions of "free will".
Guest guest
> that wasnt enough, Astral Beings manipulate us. They themself dont > want to be born here, as they would have to accept misery & the Law >of Nature. So all Devas & Asuras try to play their game by sending Shanracerji- Doesnt the Puranas say that even Devas want to be born here? Also what is this Law of nature that you say the Astral beings dont want to accept? Radha
Guest guest
> Shanracerji- Doesnt the Puranas say that even Devas want to be born > here? Also what is this Law of nature that you say the Astral beings > dont want to accept? Only those Devas who want to rise higher than they are want to be born here- most are satisfied with what they have. The Law of Nature is the law of evolution- to progress, a Being must learn lessons, suffer a little. The higher astral worlds have no disease, misery in their worlds, so their beings see no reason to be born here. Once they are born here, however, they come completely under control of Nature, who tries to purify them, mainly by giving them suffering. They dont like this suffering, so they dont want to be born here. But they still want to play with our world, so they try to manipulate us by sending by subconcious signals.
