Guest guest
Patna, Feb 17 (IANS) An Indian Austrian re-married his German origin wife in Bihar according to strict Hindu rituals to fulfil his father's last wish here Friday. Many family members and relatives participated in the marriage, solemnised as per Vedic rites. It was a dream come true for Bhawani Shankar, 70, a retired professor in Austria, who remarried his wife Romi Shankar, 70. "My father wished that I should conduct my marriage as per Vedic rites. I have fulfilled the last wish of my late father," said Bhawani in mix of English and Hindi. "My father wrote me a letter in 1970 in which he expressed his wish that I should conduct my marriage again as per Vedic rites," said Shankar, who was clad in a groom's traditional dress. Shankar married Romi in 1970 in a court in Austria. "My father was not against my decision to marry a foreigner. His only wish was that I should conduct my marriage again here as per Vedic rites. I fulfilled it though it was delayed," he said. "I still feel sorry for it. But I made it at last," Shankar said. His wife was also happy to experience an Indian traditional marriage. "I am very happy. It was a great experience for me," she said. http://mangalorean.com/news.php?newstype=local&newsid=39371 Cheap Talk? Check out Messenger's low PC-to-Phone call rates.
