Guest guest
a recent paper discussing the relative non-toxicity of vitamin D, a vitamin that is deficient in people in climates that experience winter (ex-pat indians take note) http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/reprint/85/1/6 vitamin D appears to play an important role in treating everything from depression to osteoporosis to autoimmune issues like MS based on earlier research i have been recommending 1000 IU for normal healthy adults, but this paper recommends 10,000 IU as a safe upper limit in terms of diet, the best are from organ meats like liver, e.g. cod liver oil as far as vegetarian sources, the very small amounts of vit D (D2) in fortified milk is made from irradiated yeast and is at best about 25% as active as the D3 in people with chronic disease, a vit D supplement would seem to be essential - for e.g. a full-strength cod liver oil more evidence of the importance of desha (climate) and kala (season) in diet, and why a vegetarian diet is simply unsuitable for people that live in wintery climates best... Guest guest
what about sunflower oil? I use it as a base massage oil (pitta vata). It's high in vitamin D and IMHO, has the sun's energy in a cooling way. I have the Northern European sulfur "quirk" and don't do well with lots of oils going through my liver.
