Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta Praggji wrote about Sri Swamiji' beautful s recording of Nama Ramayana prayer which wasn't included on the original USA releases of the Shatashloki Ramayana cd. For devotees unfamiliar with it, this devotee would say that it is one of the most uplifting songs imaginable. It is not possible to listen to Sri Swamiji singing this and feel anything but that "Sat Chit Ananda" that is Lord Rama manifest in our Beloved Sadguru! The other subject Praggji wrote about was the Jana Samrakshana Mantra which is on Dhyanam2 cd. both these are available on Apple's iTunes Music store. With Mahashivaratri fast approaching I felt to include more on this. For those unfamiliar, the following is excerpted from Sri Swamiji's discourse from March 4, 2000 Mahashivaratri just prior to giving this mantra. The complete text is available at this link: http://www.dattapeetham.com/india/festivals/shivaratri2000/mar4mor.html After reading the following text, please note that the items spoken about were taken from the fire pit during , which I believe was Sri Swamiji's last Agni Puja.? Pictures are available on the the website: "People at large will hanker after artificial pleasures. However, their efforts will be futile in the end. Hence there will be new-type of problems for the mankind. "Oh Lord! Om Namah Shivaya. So far your utterances are frightful. Are there no good tidings of the future?" Thus the Divine Mother asks Lord Shiva." "We observe that the Divine Mother in the form of Sri Chakra, the galaxy indicated by the Eka mukhi Rudraksha and Ganapati as the dispeller of all obstacles in the form of Ganapati-shaped rudraksha are obtained from the fire after the sacrifice. " The Mother further asked Shiva "Are there no remedies to get over the fierce dangers? Cannot they be pacified?" Shiva replies: "Whenever the fire hazard happens, it will be followed by the deluge of water, whenever a disease arises, there itself can be found the power of resistance. Whenever a new problem arises, there itself a cure is possible". As I have forecast the future, only I will protect those who surrender to me. This is the only solution. One may choose any method of worship or service to me in form of a stone (Shivalinga), or as the technical research in the physical or spiritual pursuits or as the service to mankind or any such sincere effort, though I am Formless, Nameless Absolute Reality. To such a devotee I give the assurance of fearlessness. You go ahead with the cherished service sincerely as you wish and as you can. Service to man is service to God. Work is worship. Whatever you do, offer the result thereof to me. "I am Formless. Even an atheist ever thinks of me. Actually I am the true atheist. I prove to him to that effect. To my believer, I give my vision. It is not my nature neither to prove my existence to a non-believer nor to unsettle the belief of the theist. This is so because it is I alone, who generate all feelings. None can infuse any new ideas in me. Those who attribute strange or false ideas about me are all narrow-minded religious fanatics, mere belly-fillers and sheer talkers without true experience. I protect them also.I show the nature of Reality to the atheist. Also I make the believer to realize the transient nature of the worldliness. My intellect is independent and self-motivated. Only due to my intention, people take refuge in me" Thus Shiva preached to Parvati regarding His Absolute Formless and Nameless aspects. The Divine Mother said prayerfully "Lord! The entire creation is yours. You do as you intend. However please enlighten the ignorant children (the creatures) even during their grief. Remove their pride while they enjoy pleasures". Maha Shivaratri is the day on which the Divine Mother prayed to Shiva thus. Sri Swamiji uttered the following mantra, which was chanted by all the devotees as per His direction. "OM Aim Hreem Shreem Shiva Rama Anagha Dattaya Namaha " Aim indicates Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, Hreem means Sakti (power), Sreem indicates Lakshmi, the Goddess of prosperity. Anaghaa removes sins. Datta is the spiritual Master who offers himself to the disciple. Rama indicates the Lord who does not allow the outgoing sins of the devotee to return. The Divine Mother, Vishnu, Shiva and Guru manifest in this mantra (chant). All of you must cultivate the habit to recite this mantra repetitively incessantly. By such sincere japa by you all, may the fire hazards be pacified! May the deluge of water be pacified! May the Sun be pacified! May the stars of the galaxy be pacified! May you all acquire enough power to face the suffering with forbearance! May you acquire the necessary ability to properly understand the creation of God! May your effort to attain willpower be fruitful! May your love to the Guru and patriotism develop further! Om Namah Shivaya Hanuman
