Guest guest
hello everyone does anyone have any useful references that discuss the application of specific ragas in the treatment of the doshas? i am familiar with timings of the different ragas and thus the correspondence with the doshas, but what isn't clear is if these ragas can be used to pacify the doshas, or if in expressing the time of day they might in fact aggravate the associated dosha for e.g. the hindustani raga vrindavani sarang is a mid-day raga, and to my ear is a very "hot" raga, full of stridence and passion, and i would think be unsuitable to pacify pitta (which is also active midday), and thus is probably better for kapha or vata; likewise, i would think that the early morning ragas, like bhairavi, which is very meditative and calming, would be better to pacify pitta - but this is only speculation i am familiar with the Nada Institute in Chennai but so far i haven't found any published material from them i also came across a reference to the Naradasiksha, which apparently discusses the subject, but i'm not sure... thanks...
