Guest guest
I have a client who has been diagnosed with Cushing's disease. She has many of the symptoms Acne Hair loss Stretch marks Weight gain on neck and abdamen Weakness in the arms and legs. Doctors put her on birth control as a young girl due to an ovarian cyst. They kept her on the pill ofr fourteen years to ensure that she would menstruate. She went off of the pill nine months ago. For the first six months she had normal mentruation. For the past three months she has not had a menstrual period. I had been treating her for the reduction of ama with sedana, massage, pranyama and hingashtak after meals, adrak in the morning and triphala at night. She had a lot of indigestion and bloating. This has helped her in these regards. The abscence of menstruation troubles me though. I have had some luck with ovarian cysts with the use of dhanurasana and pelvic massage, but this girl says she would like to try herbal medicines. I would love to hear anything about this illness from those who have had experience treating it. Thanks Mandakini
Guest guest
After reading what is Cushing's syndrome, author feels it can be classed into endocrine disorders like PCOS. While many of the PCOS symptoms exist here too, and so also the treatment , author feels some of the ayurvedic approaches may help here too. For more details you may visit the earlier post: http://health.ayurveda/message/8353 In addition, a wide choice of panch karma treatment is available, but what protocol should be, can be decided only by ayurvedic diagnosis. Apan Vata balancing is needed by Bastis, Liver detoxification and even Uttar Bastis by Phal ghrut, Dashmul Taila, Bala Taila. Orally, Shilajit with Bang Bhasma, Pushyanuyug Churna, Swarn Makshik bhasma, Kukutandtwak bhasma, Tankan Bhasma, Shankh Bhasma, Yashad bhasma, Kasis Bhasma, Vikrant bhasma, Devdaryadi quath, etc. Many approaches exist, but which one to adopt depends on the patient, history and her pulse. Guesswork is generally ruled out in such cases. B/C pills is not the solution for inadequacy or improper function of pituitary. This disturbs Thyroid gland also causing obesity. at other extreme. the ovaries get tired by forced ovulations, what happens in IVF, use of Clomid etc. Hyper-stimulation of the ovaries is likely to invite cancers. Amenorrhea as a result of Hypothalamus-pituitory- adrenal inadequate function in PCOS/Cushing's syndrome is most challenging problem for even most experienced Vaidyas. While allopaths do not have any solution for the same, and if they provide any solution, it is most damaging one for lifetime. after long allopathic treatment, chances of success for Vaidya become very meagre. However, if the present protocol of detoxification and simple food continues, sprouting of love seed in heart can bring about a miracle. To understand this, you need to read about a case reported by Herbalist Susun Weed: http://health.ayurveda/message/8914 ayurveda, mandv m <mandakiniven wrote: > > I have a client who has been diagnosed with Cushing's > disease. > She has many of the symptoms > Acne > Hair loss > Stretch marks > Weight gain on neck and abdamen > Weakness in the arms and legs. > Doctors put her on birth control as a young girl due > to an ovarian cyst. <snip>
Guest guest
My grandmother was diagnosed with Cushing's disease/syndrome when she was elderly--I believe around the age of 70. She lived to the age of 85. It seems to be a rare disease. I'm not a doctor nor was I my grandmother's caregiver (my Mother was) but if I remember correctly the major gland (is it the pituitary?) that is the control center for all the other glands ceases to function properly and many things start going very wrong with the body. My grandmother's major medication was cortisone along with a slew of other meds both to treat the disease and to treat all the side effects. For most of her life she weighed right at 100 lbs. and was incredibly active, strong, and full of energy. This disease brought all that to an end, although she continued to live a semi-independent life with her sister and my mother as caregivers. During those 15 years with this disease she was hospitalized many times and saw her physician frequently, and he was especially keen on helping her. She gained weight, noticeably in her face, neck and abdominal area. Sorry, but that's about all I can remember and my mother is also deceased. ron - mandv m I have a client who has been diagnosed with Cushing's disease. Guest guest
Dear Dr VenuGopal, Its quite interesting to read your post. Since we are discussing Cushing Syndrome, can you tell me what can possibly make it occur in horses ? We are exporting herbal extracts to plenty of equine health clinics and their equine (horse) patients come up Cushing's too often. What ayurvedic herbs can help Cushing's in horses and what is the cause of it ? Same with Lymphangitis in horses ? Any ideas on how to treat it ? Also it would be interesting to know , how would you describe both Cushing and Lymphangitis in terms of imbalance of Doshas.
