Introduction

>From time immemorial examination of pulse has been one of the most

important diagnostic tools relieved on by all system of medicine.

The art and science of examination of pulse was well developed in

ancient India.

 

Character of the pulse gives information about the constitution of a

person. The variation in pulse in different seasons and eating diet

with different tastes are mentioned. How the physiological

conditions like sleep, exercise, obesity and pregnancy affects the

rate and character of pulse is described. Similarly various

physiological conditions which modify the character of pulse are

described.

 

The rate, quantity and character of pulse in different fever &

disease of digestive tract, respiratory, heart and blood disorders,

genital urinary disorders, metabolic disorders, diseases of bones

and joints and various surgical conditions are described in detail.

As a corollary by examination of pulse, the physician could diagnose
