Guest guest
Many of us may be following the recent press on renewed emaphasis on the impact of global warming. Here is the latest headline news: PARIS, France (AP) -- Global warming caused by human activity is real and will continue for hundreds of years, a panel of some of the world's top climate scientists said Friday. Officially releasing a 21-page report in Paris on the hows and the what of global warming -- though not telling the world what to do about it -- the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change gave a bleak observation of what is happening now and an even more dire prediction for the future. * Global warming "likely man-made" and expected to "continue for centuries" * Greenhouse gases blamed for fewer cold days, hotter nights, floods * Temperatures predicted to rise 2 F to 11.5 F by 2100 While pondering on the line "though not telling what to do about it" , it occurred to me that not only Pujya Swamiji has been warning all of us all along, but also have been giving several prescriptions. I went to www.dattapeetham.com <http://www.dattapeetham.com> web site, and did a simple search on "badabagni" there are at least 10 message articles. Every Shivarathri dayPujya Swamiji has ben telling us about the impact and what can be done about it. Here is one such example from Shivarathri 2000 message: Volcanoes will appear in the least expected places. There will be increase in Badabagni (submarine fire) and the oceans may produce noxious air. The year will see people developing ugly and unnatural tendencies in their minds and attitudes. There will be defeats too. However, there will be victory in the end. A new type of disease will appear. The remedy for this disease will be scarce. Although there will be increase in vegetation, the year may see a situation when of some medicinal plants may become extinct. We are in the age of technology. There may be turbulence in it. There are indications of recovery in the end. Today is an auspicious day when Parvati is pleading Lord Shiva for the welfare of mankind. Now, all of you chant – `Om ayim hreem shreem shivaraama anaghaa dattaaya namah' (Sri Swamiji made the devotees to chant this mantra two times.) Ayim means Saraswati (goddess of knowledge). Hreem is Shakti (energy). Shreem is Lakshmi (goddess of prosperity). Anagha means one who removes sins. Datta means one who has presented himself. Rama means one who prevents the sins from re entering. Keep chanting this Mantra continuously. May this mantra pacify the fire catastrophes. May it pacify the dangers due to water. May there be peace in the solar system. May there be peace in stars. May everyone get the energy to face hardships. May everyone be blessed with the capacity to understand the Almighty in the right perspective. May the efforts to gain self-confidence be successful. May everyone develop respect and love towards the Guru and motherland. After the discourse, Sri Swamiji performed Srichakra Pooja. Each one of us are blessed to be associated with Pujya Swamiji. If we can follow Pujya Swamiji's prescriptions even by simply chanting or doing seva, we can begin to make our little contribution to issues such as Global warming. While constantly thinking about each of us, Pujya Swamiji has given us many simple outs. For example, the above mantra is available in the form of a CD - "Dhyanam - PART2". Even if we simply play the CD constantly, we could be the part of the solution to Global Warming. Every morning, there is a headline news of some kind related to either man made or so called natural disasters. I was inspired to send this post to all, when I read this morning news on CNN - " Rescuers search for storm survivors <http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/02/02/florida.storm/index.html> - Emergency teams are searching for victims of storms and likely tornadoes that ripped across Florida Friday, killing at least 14 people. There are fears people might be trapped under the wreckage of homes destroyed by the storms. One emergency official said the storms came at "the worst possible time," when most people were in bed. Short of visting Mysore Ashrama, we have a beautiful ONLINE Temple and Universal Prayer Hall in the form of dattapeetham web site. There are treasures of Pujya Swamiji's answers in the form of Messages, Pictures, and Music. Thought I would share my feelings with all. In Sri Swamiji's recent Andhra Pradesh tour discourses, He has laid it all out Sri Swamiji has been sweetly and softly giving the hints. >From Pithapuram: "If your Guru does not rescue or take away your sins, then what is the use of Guru?? This could be another common refrain. I do not mind, whether you visit me for any benefit. Nor I am perturbed when you stop coming due to disappointment, for not getting a particular benefit/ favour. I reciprocate the same way, as you approach me. I am like a mirror. Yad Bhaavam Tad Bhavati. You can call me a motherly/ fatherly/ brotherly/ grand fatherly/ great grand fatherly figure. I am all that to you. If you want me to be Sadguru, I am equally pleased. I will be doubly elated, if you approach me for true knowledge/ wisdom. It is not completely wrong to seek the grace of Sadguru, for the success of a particular material pleasure. But if you do not put a stop, to the ever expanding wish list, forwarded to Sadguru, you are committing a blunder. Realise the true purpose of the association with Sadguru. Try to follow His instructions in letter and spirit. Then you could afford to be oblivious to the sorrows in the daily routine and thereby nurture the innate bliss, which permeates your real self. This is the gist of Vedanta/ Veda/ Upanishat/ Purana. If you are mature enough, you will realise this content." The last statement of each paragraph makes it very clear. He has been giving warnings very subtly in recent editions of Bhakti Mala. In the times we live, is there anything more comforting than the Lotus Feet of our Sadguru? We can make His job easier by adopting His direction. Sri Guru Datta Hanuman
