Guest guest
Krishna was going to Mathura to meet kansa his maternal uncle who had earlier tried to Kill Krishna on many occasions but failed. When people of Mathura came to know about the arrival of shri krishna, they gathered on the roads to have a glimpse of their loving Bal gopal. When Krishna was passing from the streets of Mathura, people were spellbound to see his face. There were hundreds of young women who had come all prepared laden with ornaments and wearing their best dresses. They were whishpering ..oh may Krishna see us and fall in love with us. Krishna was watching them lovingly and his eyes when met with their eyes, gave them trembles of ecstasy. In the crowd also stood one women who was hunchback with no beauty on the face. She wore simple clothes as she was quite poor. She had also heard of Krishna coming to Mathura and had come prepared to show her love to Krishna by applying sandal-wood paste on his body. Seeing so many beautiful and well decorated noble girls, her heart sank. She was standing hopelessly behind the crowd crying over her bad luck and thinking," Oh why Krishna will love a woman like me? I am not beautiful even have a hunch....amongst all those beauties of Mathura, i am nothing but a piece of shame....Oh my krishna at least see towards me once." Suddenly she saw Krishna standing before her and asking lovingly " Beloved will you not apply sandalwood paste on my body" She was shocked with surprise and with trembling hands applied fragrant paste on Krishna's forehead and arms. Her eyes were shedding tears... her voice was choked...she could not believe what brought Krishna to a useless woman like her. Krishna smiled and said," Now I will kiss you as a price for your service" and he held her by face, but due to hunch she could not stand erect. Krishna put his feet over her feet and gave her body a jerk and her hunch vanished. She could not even thank Krishna for his love, and he had gone ....and she stood shocked dumb and crying in SPIRITUAL ECSTASY. What was it that brought Krishna to the hunchback? Let us not worry about our bad karma, nor for the present faults nor for the luck or gods or anything.....let pure and pious love for HIM awaken in our heart...let us cry for HIM.....let us make him the sole purpose of our life and HE will be there !! He will not care for our knowledge of books, nor for the ornaments of our degrees of knowledge nor will he be impressed with the numbers of books we read. He will measure the love and piousness in us and respond. with Love Baba
Guest guest
Babaji, Krishna was Whole. The Geeta starts with defining Dharma but as it ends in the 18th chapter, Krishna says leave the dharma ... empty yourself out and come to me.... Only the one who has emptied or purified in and out can do so. Once done, there is nowhere to go! That state itself is super conciousness. Om, S.P. Guest guest
In the Geeta, one finds something that one is already into like bhakti, gyan, yoga etc. Each time it is read, another aspect comes to light. However Babaji, in the Shrimad Bhagwat, that episode where Bhishma lies on the bed of arrows and Krishna pays a visit, there are various names by which Krishna is called by Bhishma. Can this forum focus on these names and why was he called so by Bhishma?

Can this forum > focus on these names and why was he called so by Bhishma? -- I am not sure if I have understood the question correctly, but Shri Bhishma, while lying on the bed of arrows in the battlefield of Kurukeshtra, gave 1000 names of Vishnu (Krishna) in reply to Yudhister's question, "Kim Japanmucheate Jantur Janamsamsaarbandhanat" i.e. What is that by reciting which a person can free oneself from the cycle of birth and death once for all. This sermon of Shri Bhishma forms the, "Sri Vishnusahsarnaam Stotram". Various commentaries are available on this all important Stotra, which explains the meaning of each of the 1000 names of Vishnu. One such commentary by Shankaracharya is published by Gita Press, available at a very reasonable price. Other commentaries I have seen are from Swami Chimayananda and Swami Dayananda Saraswai. Mahayogi !!! what a name... Why Krishna was called Mahayogi?????? love baba --------------------- I think it is better to contemplate on it rather than question it! There is a story in Bhagawat. When some Gopis wanted to cross Ganga in spate, they asked Krishna what they should do? Krisna told them to say these word when they reach the bank of Ganga, "If Krishna is a Bal-Brhamchari, please give us the way". They did as they were told, and Lo Ganga dried up and let them cross the river. In spite of the fact Krishna was married to 16108 queens, nothing touches Him, He is always established in His Pure Absolute Form. In the Gita the word Yogeshvara has been used for Him many a times! radhakutir OM - "beirut_ka_baba" <no_reply> <> Saturday, February 10, 2007 11:32 PM Re: Whom Krishna Loves !!!! --- > Unfortunately i do not have Bhagwat with me !! I remember one such name Bhishma gave to Krishna "Mahayogi" and this word fascinated me so much that I cared not for other names. (Will someone please tell me what other Names Bhishma gave to Krishna?) Mahayogi !!! what a name... Why Krishna was called Mahayogi?????? -------------------------------- Sri Bhishma lying on the bed of arrows in the battlefield of Kurukeshetra is a subject matter of Mahabharta and not that of Bhagwat Mahapuran. 1000 names of Vishnu were given by Sri Bhishma, while lying on the bed of arrows, in response to Yudhister's enquiry as to what an individual should recite so that he may free himself from the cycle of birth and death? Sri Bhishma's reply forms the Vishnusahsarnaama, which is part of Mahabharta like the Gita. Of these 1000 names the word Yoga appears 4 times, viz.18. Yogah, 19. Yogavindam neta, 849. Yogi, 850. Yogishah, meaning the Lord of all the Yogis. Therefore Yogishah, Yogeshvara, and Mahayogi can be considered synonymous. I reproduce below one of the commentaries on this important name of Lord . "Anyone who takes to Yoga, to understand oneself, is a Yogi. But they have to face a lot of obstacles and have to struggle a lot, to reach the end. But the Lord knows Himself naturally without any struggle or obstacle and is therefore, Yogeshvara, the Lord of all Yogis. Sri Krishna says in the Gita, I am the initiator of this Yoga and I taught this Yoga to Vivasvan, the Lord Sun (4.1). Sanjaya refers to Lord Krishna as Yogeshvara (18.78). Thus He is the very Yoga; the Yogi (849), one to be gained by Yoga; Yogeshvara, the foremost of those who know their self; Yogavidam neta (19), the one who has initiated and taught the Yoga and also takes care of those who take to Yoga with a commitment for knowing Him (names 18 and 19)". In His Krishna Avtara, in spite of the fact that the Lord was engaged in all kind of activities, married to 16108 women and producing 10 children from each etc. He was untouched by any thing that He was engaged in. The proof of this lies in the fact that He never hesitated to reveal His universal form (real identity) whenever it was needed. As a baby He ate mud, like any child would do, but when mother Yoshoda asked Him to open His mouth, what she saw, the whole Universe in that 'little' mouth. Contemplation on His Lilas is sufficient to my mind, and the all merciful Lord provides knowledge and what not, that may be needed for one's salvation.
