Desire has a larger meaning. It was always said that Desire should be overcome by us and we should allow the desire to overcome us that does not means one should not desire. Even awaiting for Kevalya, Nirvana and Moksh is one kind of desire but the saints did not allow this desire to overcome them. They never used to get angry when the did not attain. Kevalya, Nirvana and Moksh at the very first time. They kept their calm and remained patient. They did not harm other people when they did not attained their Kevalya, Nirvana and Moksh.

Krishna had once said

“Karam kar Fhal khi Chinta(Worry) math kar”

and not

“Karam kar Fhal khi Iccha(Desire) math kar”

If a person does not desire he won’t work to achieve it so obviously he will stop working, once he stops working he will start interfereing into others matter and will start troubling them just like how some of the Terrorist do after when they become Terrorist. But also if the Desire overcomes a person they still he can become cruel, he will start keeping grudges against his competitors, this was the reason why saints had told us not to let the desire to overcome, but people misinterpret it to be as not to have any desire. If you keep on worrying whether you will receive the fruits of your labor then this could even affect you health. Do your work. Do your duties but don’t bother about the result.

Overcome (Control) your desire, if things does not work in your favour then keep on trying but don’t harm your competitor. Keep your patient. Try to analyze your problem and work on it but don’t spoil the good work of your competitor. Try to make your work better than him in positive manner and not by spoiling your competitor spoiling his hard work, make him your idol and try to work harder. Both you and your competitor will be remain happy without any grudges.
