Guest guest
The night I received my mantra from Amma, the lady who oriented me to the process and commitment told me that, when you receive a mantra from Amma, Amma is making a commitment to be your Guru in this life and every future life until the goal is reached. Since that time, I have asked several of my friends about this and no one was told this. Can anyone confirm the veracity (or lack thereof) of this statement? Thanks! Guest guest
Absolutely I was told this. They probably were told this but have not remembered. When you are initiated by Amma, she makes a promise to help you reach the goal-no matter how many lifetimes. As Swami Dayamrita once sweetly explained, "It is like the lamb's head in the lion's mouth; Amma will not let go." Jai Ma! Guest guest
namah shivaya, i am pretty sure i was told this when i was preparing to receive my mantra from amma, but i can't be sure because i was in a bit of a tearful stupor at that point (long story) and i knew it already. it is not unique to amma but the nature of the guru-sishya relationship. here is an excerpt from swami sivananda radha's "mantras: words of power". A true initiation into a Mantra is like a spiritual marriage between Guru and disciple. It cannot be dissolved by the breaking up of the human relationship; it is only delayed and must be taken up and continued in another life, until the disciple has achieved Self- Realization. The Guru makes a commitment to stay with the disciple through stubbornness, resistance, and avoidance of duty until Self- Realization is achieved. Guru and disciple are always linked through the power of the Mantra.
