Saraswati Pooja : Vasant Panchami , falling this year on 23rd January, is the festival dedicated to Saraswati, the Goddess of learning. The mythological history of Saraswati associates her with the holy rituals performed on the banks of river Saraswati. She is worshipped as a Goddess of speech, attributed to the formation of words, invention of Sanskriti language and composition of hymns. Hindus all over the World celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm.Yellow colour is specially prominent on this day, which represents ripening of the spring crops. On this day, Saraswati is dressed in yellow garments and worshipped. Men and women wear yellow cloths. Sweetmeats of yellowish hur are exchanged with relations and friends. It is an auspicious day for start of a child's education.
