Dear Sir, I seek help about a Sanskrit mantra to Goddess Durga. I would sincerely appreciate any help and guidance on the subject. The mantra is generally said as : Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vichchai However there are different versions I have come across. I put them here and seek your help about the correct one. 1. Chamundayai / Chamundayei / Chamundaye 2. Vichchai / Vichche / Vichchei 3. Some say that since this mantra includes beejakshars (Aim, Kleem etc.) it should not recited by anyone. If this is so, what is the Durga mantra people in general should do? I am very confused regarding this mantra. Awaiting your expert opinion. Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vichchai anyway a great care must be taken while reading the beej mantras, you must read it with absolute purity of body and mind, But anyway if you are the devotee of maa/devi, then she is very kind, and will forgive your mistakes.... Any mantra read with concentration gives great power... Guest guest Posted January 16, 2007 Report Share Posted January 16, 2007 Dear Shankaree/Tom, if u know how to read sanskrit, u will see the correct pronounciation, however, in English transliteration, the idea we get is a rough one - hence the variations. the mantra u mention is a part of the Siddha Kunjika Stotram. here's a link to it: http://www.geocities.com/omshrionline/stotras_durga_kunjika.htm if u wanna hear it, get the CD Mahashakti Durga by balaji tambe (no promotion here! - just sharing experience) there are other mantras, slokams and stotrams for Durga and Her various forms. my experience: if ever in doubt about a mantra, ask the Deity Within for Guidance.... and see the magic. Guest guest Posted June 8, 2007 Report Share Posted June 8, 2007 according devanagari alfabet it sounds aiM hreeM kleeM chamundAyai vichchai. it is classic way from "Chandi". there - i and y mean short sound, ee means long one big A means long a M is so-called anusvara (nosal sound close to English ing) nd in chamundayai is in English way, so i think the mantra is very easy to native English-speakers (in Sanskrit there are several types of n , d, t ... ) if you are so interested in correct mantras spelling you should learn Sanskrit alfabet. The language itself is very difficalt but Devanagari is more or less simple for anyone. my experiance shows that there are very few guys in the Net who can tell you something.
