January 15th Vedic Winter Solstice

(UTHIRAYANA PUNNIAKALAM)

 

 

 

January 15th marks the dawn of time in heaven. This signifies the return

of light to the earth plane after 6 months of darkness. On this day the

Sun moves into Capricorn. This is the most auspicious time to start a

new business, relationship or any other activity. Things done during

this time will have divine support.

 

The energy starts shifting on the 14th through the 16th. All of these

days have tremendous prosperity energy. Indra, the king of heaven,

rejoices during this time of abundance, fun, and luxury and happiness.

To mark this occasion and to welcome the Sun into Capricorn we will do a

special homa (fire ritual) for the Sun on January 15th. As this day also

happens to fall on a Sunday, it is an especially powerful time.

 

The Sun governs ones health both physical and mental, self-esteem,

proper functioning of the heart and the vision.

 

 

 

Your Ancestors can Bless you with Wealth

this Coming New Moon

 

 

 

Previous Astroved newsletters have written about vedic astrology and its

constraints. In one newsletter, Astroveds founder Dattatreya Siva Baba

explored the commonly proposed question that challenges vedic

astrologers: if two people are born at the same time at the same

In that article, Datta revealed the answer given by a master astrologer

of Prasna Mangala astrology who submitted that the missing link is

because Bill Gates has strong blessings of his ancestors. Datta calls

this genetics, but more specifically Soul Genetics. The DNA you have

inherited from your ancestors not only contains their physical

proclivities, but inherently links their fears, desires, failures,

blessings to your soul. Bill Gates has succeeded because his ancestors

from the beyond are Blessing him in this lifetime to have remarkable

wealth.

 

While an astrological reading is able to predict events, reveal curses

and provide some information about your ancestors, it often fails to

measure the happiness or disturbance of the souls of your ancestors. It

is not only to our own benefit, but also for our relatives and departed

ancestors to cleanse our soul of all impurities inherited from

ancestors. Astrologically, this can be done to some degree, but then

there are techniques that will help our ancestors to move through a

river on the inner planes to cross over to greater light where their own

history is erased, and they can begin higher work of blessing others.

 

Two simple practices that everyone can do on a daily basis are:

 

(1) After taking morning shower, cut up a small amount of ginger root,

dip the pieces in honey and eat them, inwardly offering them to the

ancestors. The combination of the ginger and honey helps enliven the

DNA.

 

(2) Offer tarpanam (rice or rice flour along with black sesame seeds and

dharba grass) in your hand and wet it with water. Minimally, this can be

done with black sesame seeds alone.

 

Holding the tarpanam in your hand, offer it to 6 generations of

ancestors on your mothers line (mother is 1, grandmother 2, etc.) and 6

generations of ancestors up your fathers line. Say to the ancestors,

Come and take this offering and be at peace. Ask the ancestors for their

blessings and ask that the blessings come to you now. Just as you have

inherited some soul conditionings from your family, so your prayers can

reach them and alter their patterns in a positive way. Begin with 6

generations and work your way up to doing this practice for 12

generations. This is also performed very powerfully in community or

family.

 

Astrological Timings for Ancestors

 

Each New Moon is a powerful time when the ancestors can interact more

easily with you. The most powerful day to perform offerings to the

ancestors is on the first New Moon after the Winter Solstice (Uthirayana

Punniakalam). This year Vedic Winter Solstice in on Sunday, January 14th

(ET) and the New Moon occurs on Thursday, January 18, 2007 (ET).

 

The Winter Solstice is the day on which the relationship of Earth and

Sun has changed path heading toward Summer Solstice, and the Earth, Moon

and Sun are in a special configuration on New Moon such that the

un-illuminated side of the Moon is facing towards the Earth. During this

time a special Siva energy is available with great potential for

spiritually increasing consciousness.

 

During this special New Moon on January 18th, your offerings can greatly

increase consciousness of ancestors and elevate their awareness. From

the other side, on that day, your ancestors are powerful anc can give

blessings as they are released into Light. On New Moon days in general,

you can maximize this special window or time by doing tarpanam

(offerings) every hour between 6 AM and 6 PM.

 

You may pray for the souls of ancestors in troubled areas such as the

Arab-Israeli conflict in the Middle East as well as for those who died

in Iraq or Afghanistan. This is a divine ritual to help transform

consciousness across the planet.
