EGO ~ Amma (#10) on the nature of ego :

 

0366."Working on the ego or emptying the mind becomes easier in the

presence of a Divine Master. Although Mother has said that somebody

else's prayer cannot help remove another person's ego, a Satguru's

mere thought, look or touch can bring about a tremendous

transformation in the disciple. If He so wishes, a Satguru can even

bestow Self-Realization on His disciple or devotee. He can do

anything He likes. His will is one with God's will.- Vol.5, p33

 

0374."The saint stops feeding the mind with knowledge of the world.

Once food for the ego is stopped, the mind stops its habitual and

mechanical functioning. The saint becomes the sole controller. The

saint lives in the heart. While the head is the seat of the ego, the

heart is the egoless abode." - Vol.5, p40

 

0375."Once the ego is removed, you are no more a person. You become

consciousness. You become formless. The ego is the material which

gives name and form. Once the ego is destroyed, name and form are

gone. You may give a name to the saint and you may attribute a form

to him, but he is neither. He becomes like the wind. He becomes

Dear brothers and sisters, Amma says it's good to know the nature of

things and to use them properly according to their functionality.

Perhaps, the thing that is most misunderstood and used

inappropriately is the ego. So, I searched the Dear Amma text and

extracted all of Amma's Words on the nature of ego( about 14

pages !!! )

 

Of course, Amma's most favorite word is LOVE which is our true

nature. But, ego is what we identify with; it's our false nature.

So, Amma's Words on the nature of ego is to help us surrender our

false nature( ego ) and awaken to our true nature( LOVE ).

 

I will continue to post a few of Amma's quotes at a time; anyone

wishing to receive OFFLINE all 14 pages( Amma's Words on Ego.doc ),
