Hello All,

I wanted to find out if the choice of Ayanamsa (Raman/Lahiri etc) is a

trial and error process. I am finding that my moon sign is Pisces

according to Raman's and Yukteswar's ayanamsa and Aquarius according

to Lahiri. Which one is correct choice and why.

Thanks,

Kishore

Hello,

I have reasons to believe that the proper ayanamsha will take the polar longitude of a star, as the Surya Siddhanta *seems* to state (experienced astrologers will correct me). So if we take Spica in polar longitude, then jan 1, 2000 ayanamsha is 22:58:03.422 and moon is at 14:19:46 Libra. This is also known as Krushna Jugalkalini ayanamsha (who gives, however, 22:58:10).

Hello Ash,

I all know that. But modern softwares don't use KAS precession rate, just as KAS worksheet (with Swiss ephemeris).

The JD1 date I have given takes Spica in polar longitude (Midheaven at 0:0:0 Libra, which is consistent with Surya Siddantha, according to swiss ephemeris. That's why I named Astrolog32 freeware.

In some way, what I use is not KAY, but is correct for KAS uses nowadays.

Anyway, Raman also stated once that spica polar longitude should be used.

Sorry for the mistake, but I though I was clear enough.

Ash,

Can you explain to us why Krushna decided on day 0 as feb 24, 366 and his precession rate. The only thing I read is that is a «family recipe»... Please don't ask us to read the lessons, since many of us don't have them and it is NOT explained in them.

Dear,

I am glad to have an updated KAY table. Unfortunately, I feel

disappointed (even dceived) that you *always* escape to answer any

honest question in regard with Krushna's reason to choose this

specific date (24 feb 366). Are we really in front of a family recipe

(such as Grandma's cup cakes!?) or is there a scientific reason to

KAY? Having no response, I prefer Swiss Ephemeris with their

precession rate and to call the ayanamsa I use: «Polar Spica», even

if it sounds foolish of me.

Dear Francois,

Since you are on KAS list, I prefer to give you an answer here on this

list.

There is no point in talking about Krushnaji or KAY behind his back.

First and foremost, It is not my job or responsibility to answer to

any of your questions. If you have an issue with not knowing how to

calculate ayanamsa then that is not my problem.

The starting date of Krushna's Ayanamsa is 24th Feb 366 AD.

You can take this date and the data from the lesson and figure this

out for yourself.

In our KAS program we have made the required modifications to swiss

ephemeris so that it computes the proper values. If some program you

have does not include such calculations, then you can take it up with

the author of the program and request him/her to add the modifications

so that the proper value of KAY is computed.

Trying to portray your lack of computational skills to compute the

proper value of of Krushna's Ayanamsa, based on modern program, and in

the garb of that using that as an excuse to each time trying to ask

why the value given is 24th Feb 366 AD is not proper.

The value given by Krushnaji is clear and it is 24th Feb 366 AD AND

THAT IS THE VALUE OF THE START OF KRUSHNA'S AYANAMSA.

Changing the values to suite your program's inability to compute the

proper value of KAY, and then changing the value of the start date and

calling that Krushna's Ayanamsa is not proper.

My suggestion is to take it up with the author of the program of your

choice, and have him/her compute the proper precession.

Hints can be taken from the lesson where value of ayanamsa from 24th

Feb 366 AD is given and work backwards.

I shall not bother to answer any further questions of your's on

Krushna's ayanamsa as there is nothing more I can add.

If you are a true scientist and an explorer, then use the lesson as

the starting point, and over the years work backwards and do not just

restrict yourself to the " modern programs " .

What Krushnaji has taught me, and his words are good enough for me.

The question is that is his words and lessons good enough for you?

Cheers !!!

Ash -> http://www.ashtro.ca

Re: Ayanamsa choice

Almost every ayanamsa - Lahiri, Fagan, whichever - is based on some

postulation. If there were any less indisputable facts, there wouldn't have

been as many.

I'd, going by what I'd heard (from an astronomer known to my bro) about 24

Feb 366 from someone, been using 1-1-34 behind Lahiri and recall mentioning

that on another Group a couple of years or so ago, when Ash immediately

responded saying it was the Krushna ayanamsha! Merely two unrelated sources

corroborating a date won't make it above board but it might not be such a

closet thing after all, as you apprehend now.

Just my 0.02,

Ramapriya
