Guest guest
Dear Poster, There are many diverse opinions and even claims for rahu and ketu in ancient and contemporary jyotish and given your personal experience, I can understand why you sound a bit frustrated and want so much to get to the bottom of this and work with some simple foundational tenets as you call general principles. Rahu and ketu, have -- as many believe -- a role that in a card game would be defined as the wild card. They can act as surrogates for other planets, being shadow planets themselves. Yes they have been given different rulerships, and as I observerd earlier in 'Astrotreasures...' articles they change drastically even in the gold standard, magnum opus that BPHS indeed is, between the early and the late part of the compendium. Moon and mercury are realized to be fast, movable and changeable but even those two have very defined rulerships and other attributes, though their range of wavering may extend beyond those of other visible planets. The Lunar nodes are way more variable and moon and mercury despite their fluidity pale in comparison to the nodes. Truly, sun and moon are the two primary time keepers in the human experience clock, like the hour hand and the minute hand. The conjugal product of the two: sun and moon are the lunar nodes! If sun and moon did not have the orbits that they have, there would not be rahu and ketu and remember that all of this is happening from the earthly perspective. Only from the geo-centric perspective do rahu and ketu exist. They, more than other indicators, thus are more directly connected with the earthly reality and hence more personal and yet impersonal! The impersonality comes from their taking on the impressions and attributes of other planets whose surrogates they become. I think of rahu and ketu in general terms as the carrier waves of a radio. The specific content of the radio broadcast, the 'flavour' arises from the planet/planets that in a given horoscope give the carrier waves of the lunar nodes the 'signal'! If you are a radio buff, you must have noticed the noise that you hear when you turn on the radio when a station is not broadcasting. This is easier to notice in the short wave bands where stations tend to broadcast for a shorter period of time and there is generally more noise than signal! The pure form of lunar node, their inherent expression is the noise that the carrier wave makes -- it is constant and unwavering. But when the nodes take on a planet's portfolio, the radio station comes alive and begins to give meaningful information and in that entertaining moment and educative moment, suddenly we tune out the inherent noise that the nodes represent. Please take that as a seed and run with it. Thanks! RR , angel <angelgoel wrote: > > Hi all > > I want to know the general characteristics/outcomes of > "rahu mahadasa".
