Through their effect on the astral body, our body composition, mental composition is influended towards certain elements (which in turn are representative / guided by certain planets.) The influence on the mental composition in turn leads to actions (or karma if u call it). If studied well, the actions can be guided on the right path or else they create harm. Also, if someone believes in Chaos theory then these effects on astral body bring out some balance with the cosmos and hence we observe some 'super natural' effects of gems which are beyond human comprehension. (things like getting a lottery out of nowhere). The problem is, our astrologers in the past had the final results of astrological studies but they did not know the real science behind it (or it got lost somewhere in between).
