Saturn returns

The concept of saturn return arose primarily in the realm of western

astrology which had been the primary astrological guidance in the

developed nations, and still is from what I hear.

Saturn returns to its natal position in about 30 years after birth. The

years around 30 have special sociological significance in the lives of

most individuals who grow up in western societies and more so in

decades in recent past as opposed to current perhaps. Education is

generally finished by then and one enters the rat race of daily living

and striving for success. Marriage, if already a part of reality

generally the honey-moon period is over and the daily routine of

married life envelopes one. In many cases children have already arrived

and the little teachers really drill reality into the worldly person's

life and experience. In short, the dream period, the super-optimistic

and youthful enthusiasm tends to plateau and even go on the decline a

bit. REALITY, which is a very saturn-thing strikes -- right in the

face! Divorces, job-changes, all kinds of "adjustments" begin to take

place, also very saturn-like. However, there still remains

youthfulness, energy, generally health is not a concern and there is a

lot to look for and live for in terms of job-satisfaction and future

growth. I think of 30s as a splash of cold water that saturn douses

many with so that they may prepare for the declining period ahead in

some senses, which brings us to the next rest point - the mid-age

crisis generally hitting one around age 45 when, guess what -- Saturn

arrives at the point where it is exactly opposite to its natal

position! It is almost as if a minicycle is complete, the cycle that

was triggered and conceived and initiated at oh around age 30 and is

now brought to the 7th therefrom when saturn opposes its natal position.

At the 2nd saturn return, about 60 again things similar to the first

saturn return happen. The phase of ones life and focus generally

changes and the focus then moves from the first one (30 - worldly

reality) to something less worldly.

Think of these as phases of growth and though this is a generalization

examine saturn in a given chart and see what it represents, its

strength and the rest of the standard checklist we use in astrology.

Some of it tends to be society-specific too. In India many decades ago,

saturn return probably did not have as much impact as it did in some

western societies. This is an important consideration to keep in mind.
