Guest guest
I hope some of you are Purana scholares. Years ago I studied the Bhagavata Purana and I recall a battle takes place between what is presented as Personified Heat and Personified Cold. I desire to re-examine this section. Can anyone help me find the reference? I apppreciate it. Please, if there are a parralel statements in other of the 18 Puranas, I should also like to see them. The only thing that I can think of is book 10, chapter 63, verses 22-23. Here Siva releases a jvara against Krsna, who in turn releases a jvara at Siva. The two jvaras fight with each other. According to the commentator, Sridharasvamin, zrInArAyaNaH zItajvaram asRjat, "Narayana released a cold (zIta) jvara." In verse 22 it is said that Siva's jvara: dahann iva dizo daza, "burning down, as it were, the ten directions." This may indicate that Siva's jvara is of heat, and if we accept the commentators note, Krsna's is of cold. The two jvaras fight, Krsna's emerging as the winner. I am not sure that this is what you are looking for, but I hope that it is of help in any case. Sincerely, Toke
Guest guest
Dear Toke Knudsen; Just so, it is precisely the issue I sought. You are exceptionally adroit to find it in the ocean of the Puranas. I cannot thank you enough, so: WELL DONE! Robb NB I am too grateful to express it, but may I ask: is this incident reflected elsewhere in Veda? ADVISE. Guest guest
Robb, you are no doubt refering to chapter 63 of Book X. The context will show you where to look in Harivamsa and Vishnu Purana. Jan robb thurston <robb7thurston > wrote: I hope some of you are Purana scholares.
