Maybe I am biased, folks, but if Aurangzeb was one of the great kings

that ever ruled India, then Hitler must be the greatest Statesman to

have almost become a Chakravarti literally!

(TONGUE-IN-CHEEK -- folks! Don't start with the "BAN RR" chant!

Aurangzeb may have been described as an individual who practiced his

religion strictly and lived very simply, but will someone explain why

he should be called a great king to ever rule India? I mean I am not

saying that let us go all the way back to Sri Rama, but Chandragupta

Maurya's name comes to mind and King Ashoka! Even Shivaji -- who gave

Aurangzeb the run for his money! Wonder if someone has compared the

synastry between Shivaji and Aurangzeb? That is after we establish

what should be the accurate charts for these two ancient

individuals ;-)

Dear Prashant,

His lagna is kumbha, but rahu is in 12th. This is the link

http://srath.com/lessons/advanced/badhaka.htm Based on this, he has

all the yogas I mentioned.

To other members, I meant to say he was great, not necessarily good.

But then, who is? It is purely subjective.

Dear Suresh ji,

Since you use two strong words: Great and Good

Please explain or at least Please Elaborate!

What is the difference in where you look on this from?

And please don't be cryptic -- take your time and post an essay if

you must or a file in the database here..

Dear RR,

sure the comparison of Aurangzeeb with Hitler may be a compliment to Hitler as this wretched man killed his own family members for the lust of power, butchered many millions and till date when a few Jews or Christians die media does highlight it and Hindus killed anytime in the past or now is never seen in any corner. of course only comparison can be Tutsi being massacred in Rwanda over 8M in a few days with the world watching silently, which spent billions in Kuwait liberation [as oil was there to loot]. operation desert storm I, 2 both are needles compared to what was needed in Rwanda, Ethiopia, Sudan anytime.

here other counties is to highlight the company AUrangzeeb can be

he must be next to Cheingis Khan alone. Hitler, Missoluni saddam, Idi Amin r smaller

Dear RR ji,

I think it's obvious. In the BG, the Lord has defined various

qualities like shama, dama as satvic. As Hindus, we may therefore

consider them 'good.' A person possessing some of these qualities is a

good man, a satvika, if you so prefer.

That doesn't necessarily make him great, because the world often

relates greatness to charisma, control over millions, great erudition,

wealth, talent, sound management skills, the ability to conquer and

rule over kingdoms etc. etc. Most people believe this.

If there's any doubt about this, please ask a mother-any mother round

the corner-if her son is great. If she nods, ask her why. I bet 100

times out of 100, she'll say her son is great because he studied at

IIT, works at Infosys, earns a lot of money, and so forth. Not one

mother is gonna say, "My son is great because he has all the satvic

qualities." Even if he does have all the satvic qualities!!

Why do you think that is? It's because most people do NOT relate

greatness to goodness. That's why great men are not necessarily good

men, and vice versa. Greatness often revolves around worldly

accomplishments, whereas goodness centers on cultivating satvic

qualities. The two are not related in any way, which is why I believe

what I believe.

Hope I've answered your question.

Regards,

Suresh
