Significance of Number Sixty , 60 - Shat Sathi = Shashtyabda.

Shat Sathi is the age one celebrates an important landmark in one's life -

Shashtti Abda Poorthi ( erroneously referred to as Shashtti Poorthi )

60 years is half of 120 years , the expected life expectancy of humans in

Kali Yugam. If Life can be compared to a Cricket Test Match 60 years

marks scoring a half century by the person batting.

Sixty is also the number of Named Years in Sanaathana Almanac from Prabhava

through Akshaya. So a person born in Prabhava nama Samvatsaram

completes 60 years of age when Prabhava Samvatsaram Comes around again , It

is a Grand Birthday Party of great Religious significance -

Ugra Rattha Saanthi.

There is another way of looking at it. There are 12 Sooryas(Suns) - Dwaadasa

Aadithyas . Each of these 12 Suns

is qualified with Five types of Years - Samvatsaram , Vatsaram , Anuvatsaram

, Idaavatsaram and Parivatsaram - 5 times 12 is 60 - so a person of

60 years age has seen all the 5 times 12 types of years.

Next land mark is Sapthathi or Saptha Sathi - 70 years age. Bheema Ratha

Santhi.

The next one aagain is very important - 83 years plus - Sahasra Chandra

Darshan , meaning a person of 83 years has seen 1000 full moons.

So Be It = OM THATH SATH.
