Dear Mr Thomas Egenes,

 

Since your book, INTRODUCTION TO SANSKRIT (2 parts), is used as textbook for

learning SANSKRIT in so many countries, am not sure if you have come across

such an unpleasant news published twice in a leading Indian newspaper, TIMES

OF INDIA as follows though it is very sad :

 

1) Cambridge drops Sanskrit & Hindi : No Takers For These Undergraduate

Courses : Varsity, Oct 13th, 2006

 

2) Death Of Vernaculars : Cambridge blow to Hindi reflects deeper problem,

Nov 13th, 2006

 

On one hand many are struggling to introduce INDOLOGY in school & college

curricula & on the other hand we get such blows from time to time. Regards
