Correct Oil and times for Shirodhara

5 mins Soak Feet

10 mins Neck, Shoulder & scalp massage

25 mins Flow of oil onto 3rd eye

5 mins Neck, scalp massage

 

 

Dosha Recommended Oil Type

Vata Sesame

Pitta 50% Coconut and 50% Sesame

Kalph Coconut oil

 

Ensure oil is not to hot,

Ensure oil continuously pours on 3rd for 25 min

Information is pretty much correct.

The main point in shirodhara is pouring the oil on the forehead

region for about 15 to 40 minutes.

The pre and post procedures may differ.

For example we do not have the 5 minutes soak feet.

We instead have 5 minutes of svedan (either steam or hot cloth) on

neck, shoulder and scalp after the massage.

The dosha and recommended oil type connection is also not so rigid.

You can also use kadha, takra (butter-milk) or medicated oils as per

individual needs.
