Guest guest
What happens after death? Our ancient sages also thought about this and with their Yogabala, found the answer. In Kathopanishada, Nachiketa also asks Yama, the God of Death:- Ye yam pretey vichiktsa manushaye Astitayeke neyamstiti chaikey (Kathopanishad) There is a doubt about the dead person. Some say he does not perish and some say he perishes after death…What is the Truth ? In Gita Shri Krishna says:- Vasansi jirnani yathha vihay…….navani dehi (2/22) Like a person discards old clothes and wears new clothes, similarly soul discards old or worn out bodies and takes new body. Upanishadas divide the Gati (Movement of astral body after death) into three types viz. Devyana, Pitrayana, and Adhogati 1- Those people who follow their dharma and do all the Karma without detachment, follow the path of Devyana. Brihdanyak Upanishada says : Tey ya evamet…. Tesham na punaravritti (6/2/15) Those people who have families, but who know the Pancha Yagyas, or those who are Sanyasis or those who have detached themselves from the desires and world and are busy in worshipping the HiranyaGarbha ….these people after death follow the Devayaan. They go to heavens, live with higher souls…and take higher births and thus continuing their sadhna go from Devaloka to AdityaLoka, and from Adityaloka to Vidyutloka and from vidyutloka to Brahmloka. They live in that Brhamloka till the end of universe and do not come back to earth . 2- Those who are domestic or sanyasi but do good karma to get back the fruits of their karma, either from God or from men or gods take the path of Pitrayana. Brihdanyaka Upanishada says Athh ye yagyen danen tapasa….. evmevanuparivartantey (6/2/16) And those who do Yagya, donations, and tapas and win other lokas they go by Dark Path or Pitrayana….From Pitrayana to Pitraloka, from pitralika to the moon (This is not the physical moon). There they enjoy the Somrasa and live with gods and when their good karma are finished they to the Akasa and from Akasha to air and from air to rain and with the rain they enter into the grains. This grains are when eaten by men, they enter the sperms of the men and when the sperm mate with the egg in the women, these soul start taking new birth. After many such births they become like type I and follow the Devayana. 3- Those who are do not do any good karma, do not donate to the poor or do not help others but are busy in violence and selfish acts follow the ADHOGATI… they do not go out of the earth and take birth as insects, animals trees etc and after unspecified time, take birth in human form again. There is another Gati called A-gati in our Shastra. This is very dangerous as there is no movement in the soul after Death. In agati, the soul is locked into a loop of time and does not go up or down. Sastras say there should be any gati…up or down as with up gati, soul will get fruits of his good karma, and with down gati, soul will burn up its bad karma But Agati, puts a soul into an unending circle of time, where it does not go anywhere and wastes the valueable time. Shraadh, donation etc in the name of dead souls was thus advised by our saints, so that the soul gets out of the Agati and start its journey either upwards or downwards.
