Different people feel differently at the time of Death. First of all let us the take the example of Common Herds...common herds here does not mean poor people or uneducated people...here what i mean by CH is those who are spiritually poor, who lived their life for selfish ends, never thought of God, never did anything good for others...and never thought of an after life. When these type of people die, they just become unconscious at the time of death, feel as if they are being sucked into a black tunnel, or they may feel they are drowning into a whirlpool. Most of them normally call their nears and dears (wife or children or brothers) ...to save them...they grasp the hands of relatives firmly, as if they will be saved. Many of them start calling God too... but this calling is not due to their love for God but out of fear, perhaps god could save them. But God does not listen to them. A bigger percentage of common herd, in their un-consciousness, leave the body and reach lower astral planes...where they sleep till the time ripes for their next birth. They do not see any heaven or Hell during their transit. A smaller percentage of common herd, who had infatuation with their property, house or wealth...their souls do not cross the Aura of earth...and they are stuck up in earth's area, sleeping and wandering to find any chance to get a body. They do not leave any chance to get a body, even if it is lizard or fly or mosquito or snake... they just grab it and are born near their property, wealth or relatives....such people take innumerable lower births till their infatuation with wordly things/relations is weakened. Then comes even lower people, who are animals in human bodies. These type of people live like parasite on others...they are either very violent and kill people for their selfish ends, or are terrorising people, to get pleasure. These type of people, are met by horrible astral figures (Called Yamadootas in garud puran)....who tear away his soul from his body, giving them a pain of 1000s of scorpion bites, and take him to nether-astral levels, where they are put to various types of pains and sufferings, so that their Anthakarana...knows the idea of pain which they gave to others. After spending immeasurable time in such hells they are sent back to earth in a body, where they are born with defects, or in utter poverty, and they suffer physically for their past karma Now comes, the middle ones...those who lived their life selfishly but had a good heart, believed in God, sometimes helped the needy and are normally peaceful people. Since they have mixed karma and are better than the other two, they normally die a peaceful death. Some of them see gods or angels or dead relatives taking them towards higher planes. These type of people are shown different levels of astral worlds where they suffer and learn lessons for their selfish deeds, and also to some not so higher astral planes where they may live happily with their ancestors, or some angels. After the time ripens for them to learn new lessons...they are forcibly sent to a body....and their next life is certainly a little higher than last one....and thus slowly they ride on the stairs of spirituality with each birth !! In all cases above, the whole of their life is seen by them in a few moments...and their Antakaran knows the final results of their life, a moment before death. (I will continue in next post about the sadhakas and higher souls wht happens to them at death) With my love
Guest guest
I read an excellent point, that I would like to share. A Guru told his follower: "Why are you scared of death? Death is such a wonderful release from this body of pain, disease, urine & misery. You should not be scared of death, but of being born. Because your next birth isnt in your hands, & you might lose all your spiritual progress by being born in the wrong family." The last sentence is worth discussing. While I agree with Babaji that Yogis are normally born in families where they can continue their spiritual progress, sometimes, if they have hidden desires, they might be born into families where these can be fulfilled. Then, if they dont meet a good Guru, they might squander all their Good Karma, & lose all their progress. There is even a saying in Indian Yogis about this: "Tapeshwari se Rajeshwari, Rajeshwari se Narakeshwari" "From Sainthood to King, from King to Hell". There are a few exceptions- like Buddha was born a Prince, but he gave up all to become a Yogi. But most people get stuck in pleasures & forget God, & burn away all their good Karma. Thats why the Guru says we should be scared not of death, but of re-birth. There are 2 ways around this- one his to have a Guru who will find you in the next life & turn you to God.(if you have read Autobiography of a Yogi, Yogananda does this with his student who died) This usually requires your Guru is a Siddha(immortal)- the odds are immposible. The 2nd way is to have extreme love & dedication to your Ishta Devta/Devi. This is a much more reliable method, but also difficult as the Gods like Shiva,Krishna,Durga demand complete surrender, & they cant be fooled by show of spirituality.
