Guest guest
Dear Shiv, You said: "I remember someone ( perhaps ruiji) had once commented on it earlier. Sorry for bringing this up, just that I personally don't like the word 'debilitated' at all. There must be some benefits of a debilitated Jupiter too?" Yes, I believe I did comment on Jupiter debilitated once and I promised I would elaborate more on that but sometimes (having myself lagnesh and 2nd lord Saturn debilitated) I feel shy and afraid of saying something wrong, which may mislead others, so I rather wait until someone else elaborates on that, but since this is the 2nd time someone refers to Jupiter debilitated after my comment, I think I should try and explain myself. I trust Wendy and those who are (so) more experienced will correct me if I am wrong. You have to think of Jupiter at his weakest when judging Jupiter debilitated. Think of Jupiter and his attributes and then imagine how he would do if he was a weak person, or is he was debilitated. You can check how an afflicted Jupiter would react when he is weak on the following link from Wendy's website, which is available to all. You will see that you will learn a lot from that website. It is a true compendium of Jyotish, unlike any other on the net! http://jyotishvidya.com/planets.htm You also have to take into consideration the houses Jupiter rules. If, for example, Jupiter rules the 7th house, this would be a factor of 7th house weakness and you could say there would be few chances the native would be happy in marriage or have a happy relationship, although this must to be weighed with many other factors in the chart, especially the situation of Venus, which is the natural karaka for the 7th. Another thing is that any debilitated planet will be very detrimental to the house it is placed in. In my case, that was most obvious with Saturn in 4th as my mother rejected me from birth and I ended up being looked after by my grand aunts, who saved me (as I was dying of starvation, dehidration, etc) and gave me a good education, which neither of my brothers had... It is like I have a wound in the 4th house, so anytime there is a bad transit, like Rahu's transit in 2004, 4th house significations will suffer because they are already so afflicted, so I had to move house 4 times during Rahu's transit! However things are not always that bad as my Saturn's debilitation is actually cancelled in many ways and there are some strong planets in the chart. In order to understand debilitation cancellation better, I would reccommend the following link to Wendy's website, where you will find an article written by Balaji, one of our list members, who has studied in depth graha neecha (planet debilitation) and neecha banga (debilitation cancellation): http://jyotishvidya.com/balaji.htm In both my chart and our debilitated planets are in the nakshatra of the best possible planet. In case, this is the Moon because it is exalted and 9th lord. In my case, there are actually 2 strong planets helping Saturn: one is Venus, Nakshatra dispositor and yogakaraka, who is in own sign in Rasi and exalted in Navamsa; the other is Mars, who is strong on many accounts and disposits Saturn by being the 4th lord. Lastly, I do not have to authority to say whether a debilitated planet can be beneficial or not, but I really doubt it. I personally think a debilitated planet is always detrimental, but as the saying goes "One swallow does not make a Summer", the whole story must be told by all planets, not just one. Guest guest
Dear , Talking on positives of Debilitation- Debilitated planets at times can produce Neech Bhanga Raj Yoga, even be a part of Vipareeta Rajyoga ,at times certain house Lords when debilitated also weaken the negative effects of same. At times when Debilitated but retrograde, give results as Exalted. There can be hundreds of such combinations where debilitated planets may prove to be good in a chart. regards, Bhaskar. jyotish-vidya, "RPM" <rupamede wrote: > > Dear Shiv, > > You said: "I remember someone ( perhaps ruiji) had once commented on > it earlier. Guest guest
Dear Bhaskar and All, I had in the back of my mind that I should look at a post sent by Shiv...but now I can't seem to find it...perhaps your post relates to his query? I would like to say something in regards to the concept that a (debilitated) retrograde planet gives results as exalted. This is a complex issue that requires careful consideration. Certainly the effect of a retrograde planet (in bhava) is strongly felt due to its slower motion...according to Parashara a planet in retrogression (Vakra) is allotted the greater (motional) strength. http://jyotishvidya.com/ch27.htm However, to say that a debilitated planet gives the same results as if exalted is misleading. We know that, once past its degree of debilitation, a planet begins to gain positional strength (proportionately) as it moves towards its sign of exaltation. Therefore, if a planet approaching its degree of debilitation, turns retrograde it, begins to move away from that point in the direction of its exaltation. If, on the other hand, the planet (in sign of debilitation) is beyond the degree of debilitation, then retrograde motion would see it moving back towards deep debilitation.. In which case one could not say that it would give similar results as if exalted. Guest guest
Dear Mrs.Wendy, Very well explained by Your goodself. We always get to learn from You and this Forum. That is why I used the expression in my post to Shiv - at times. Your explanation- In other words means if Jupiter in any chart is above 5 degrees and goes retrograde then, its again coming back to its debilitation point so we cannot expect good results. Guest guest
Dear Bhaskar, //Your explanation- In other words means if Jupiter in any chart is above 5 degrees and goes retrograde then, its again coming back to its debilitation point so we cannot expect good results. Please correct me if I am mistaken.// This is in regards to positional strength and how it pertains to retrograde motion. However there are other factors (also) to be considered before assessing the result due to (any) planet...as I'm sure you know :-) Best Wishes, Mrs. Wendy http://JyotishVidya.com jyotish-vidya ___ - "Bhaskar" <bhaskar_jyotish (AT) (DOT) co.in> <jyotish-vidya> Thursday, November 16, 2006 4:11 PM Re: Jupiter Debilitated for Shiv Dear Mrs.Wendy, Very well explained by Your goodself. Guest guest
dear ruiji, wendyji, bhaskarji and all other respected members thanks for your learned discussions about Jup debilitated. Tropical/western explanations of Jup in capricorn certainly sound better than vedic for frail ones like me:)). But better to know the truth than not. However, what might be some practical advise to someone who has it. Not mantras, remdies etc. but more practical/psychological insights and ways to deal with this. I have it myself. I suppose that and a strong saturn in my chart makes me go towards advaita doctrine. I have a extremely hard time believing any demi gods or having a faith in religious authorities in general. ( But maybe saturn in capricorn in D9 accounts for that rather than Jup?). I suppose I should have more faith in a higher order. Would appreciate any advise on how to deal with Debil. Jup. in 8th house. In D9 it's in 11th conjunct moon in Pisces. It's a pretty young Jup too, being just 8 degrees in Cap. The day I ran into Jup Bhukti some months back, I got some money after many months of totally dry spell. Guess it does have some impact after all. Would appreciate any advise. Guest guest
Dear Wendyji, Thanks for your response. I apologize for the delay in response. I am into Jup Bhukti since just a few months. Things seem a bit better like getting back in touch with family. About other things, I was in graduate school earlier. Some grade problems, of my own making mostly and some bad decisions caused me to be not allowed to enroll again. To remedy that I had a filed a petition. It was rejected, mostly due to the fact that I couldn't make it to town here in time to repesent myself in person. So that has become more difficult now. I am still trying again, but it is painfully slow process. Not sure if it is progress or not. Someone said that happens as my D 24 chart has Jup in 12th with rahu and ketu, pisces rising. Now transit Jup has also entered my 6th house. Some say it means I have no enemies. Others say intelligent people ( Professors) are my enemies now? But yes the day it started I got some money and also started to work for a while, a labour job. But now I have come back to this town and see about this School petition thing. Your insights will be highly appreciated. I can meet the committee chairman either Monday or Thursday. 7th Dec. But saturn goes retro on 5th. Is any day in particular advisable.? (This school situation has been off and on like this for the last 6 years, first in Ph.D., then in masters.) I believe this post was started by me asking about the bhava positions of planets, mars in 10th, Jup in 7th, merc in 4th and their implications. Lately I have been thinking astrology can perhaps not save me as my flaws are too many. Tardiness being one. Also, aslthough at times I work quite hard, at other times my brain doesn't give me ideas or energy to do anything. To that add serious confusion and inability to decide and very high ideals and low confidence and bad PR skills. So this waste of a potentially great life goes on. Guest guest
Dear Wendyji, Thanks for your insightful response. It has been very useful. Yes the time is 23.22. I should have mentioned this situation has been going on for more than an year. It's very recently that I came out of limbo (I had gone into a hiding for almost 7-8 months since I had lost all hope) and started to tackle this situation. So these problems have existed long before Saturn became conjunct ketu.I guess I should have acted a bit earlier before the 6th house got so loaded. That's another problem that I have. I doubt if I am lazy, just that ideas don't strike me at the right time and confusion persists for a long time as a routine reality in life. But even then I have heard that malefics there do well for the native. My venus being there apparently makes me 'soft' in dealing with enemies and then moon also in 6th from arudha lagna I've been told. So both Mars and Sun being there help? Also Merc is moving there in a day or two. I assume that is good. You might be right about D 24 capricorn rising. I believe I saw pisces rising in J Hora software. I don't have any other software to double check that at the moment. I trust your viewpoint. You mentioned "Both Jupiter and his nakshatra lord, Sun, are in sign of debilitation". Could you please inform which specific nakshatra is the Jupiter in. I assume you meant the natal Jup here. I am about to meet my director soon. The appointment is on 7th Dec. Is that bad as Saturn goes stationary that day. Should I prepone it to any other better day. One last thing: Do you see eventual success and if I could do some remedies etc. to make this easier.
