*I sent this article to Editor of Astrological Magazine during Summer 2005.

It has not been published as far I know. I got the data from a well known

British Astrologer. I have not changed a single word since I wrote the

article. Whether this comes true or not - we'll surely know in couple

months.*

*The future of James Gordon Brown *

(February 20, 1951; 8:40 Am; Glasgow, Scotland)

United Kingdom's Chancellor of the Exchequer

Background:

It is widely regarded by the British Press that Prime Minister Tony Blair

will hand over the reigns to Chancellor Gordon Brown before the end of his

third term. While there are other possible contenders for the PM's post

within labour party, I am focusing only on Gordon Brown in this article.

Gordon Brown as named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by

Time magazine (April 2005) leaving out PM Tony Blair.

Horoscope:

James Gordon Brown was born in Aslesha nakshatra ruled by mercury. At first

glance the chart shows a terrible conjunction of Jupiter (10th lord), Mars

(9th lord), Sun (6th lord) and a powerful Rahu in the 12th house. All these

are aspected by a retrograde Saturn from 7th house. During high school

years, Mr. Brown sustained a rugby injury that has made him blind in the

left eye. Some of the combinations that are given in classical Jyotisha text

books, for weak eye sight/injury, apply in this case almost verbatim. Let us

look at other positive aspects of his chart.

Salient features of the horoscope:

1. Mercury and Moon in each others' nakshatra in the 5/11 axis lending

strength to the horoscope. Mercury is the Amatya Karaka of the chart well

placed in the eleventh house.

2. Dara karaka (Venus) and Putra karaka (Saturn) aspecting each other

is another Jaimini rajayoga. However, the number of rajayogas increases in

the navamsha chart. The combination of venus (DK) and mercury (Amk) in the 7

th house of navamsha is one prominent one.

3. From KL (Karakamsa lagna) Gemini, Venus is exalted in 10th house.

4. From Pada lagna (Capricorn) Venus is 10th lord exalted in

3rdhouse, giving him the Journalism stint during his Venus dasha.

5. Jupiter – 10th lord of rashi although ill-placed in rashi and

afflicted, successively gains strength in navamsha and dashamsha. In

navamsha a well placed Jupiter in aries aspects 10th house. In

Dashamsha there is an excellent Gajakesari yoga in fourth house giving him

the parliamentary career. During moon mahadasha he reached even a higher

status. In Dashamsha – mercury is the Amk well placed in 11th house

with an exalted GK (Gnati Karaka). This reduces the strength of Amk, but an

exalted GK suggests a hard resolve to overcome difficulties in matters

related to career.

Verification of Events:

1. February 1974 – Was elected by Labour party to be able to stand for

an MP election. Vimshottari dasha is Venus-Venus-Mercury and Chara Dasha is

Gemini-Aquarius. From Gemini (Also Karakamsa Lagna) an exalted DK in 10

th and PK in 4th form rajayoga. From Aquarius 10th house is aspected

by Amk mercury.

2. 9 June 1983 – Elected to Parliament. Venus-Jupiter-Moon. Jupiter

is 10th lord and Moon is 5th lord. In Chara Dasha it is

Cancer-Aquarius. From Cancer 11th is aspected by Amk and from Aquarius

10th house is aspected by Amk mercury.

3. 2 May 1997 – Tony Blair's and Mr. Brown's rajayoga fructified at

the same time. If was the beginning of Moon Mahadasha. In Chara dasha it is

Virgo-Libra-Aquarius. Virgo has PK/DK in the 1/7 axis. From Virgo

10threceives the aspect of these two rajayoga planets. Also note that

Virgo is

fourth from KL (Karakamsa Lagna).

4. 3 August 2000 - Marriage to Sarah Macaulay. Chara Dasha is

Virgo-Pisces and Pisces has Darakaraka venus. His wife was a well placed

public relations business executive, explained by an exlated venus and again

the presence of 2 benefics in the 7th house of navamsha.

5. 17 October 2003 - Birth of a son. In Chara Dasha it is

Virgo-Cancer. Virgo has Putrakaraka Saturn and cancer has 5th lord of

lagna moon.

6. 6 May, 2005 – Retains his status, as PM Tony Blair gets re-elected.

In Vimshottari dasha is Moon-Venus-Venus. Venus even as 3rd and

8thlord did not spring a negative surprise. Note that, Venus is in

Jupiter's

nakshatra.

Shodashottary Dasha is applicable in this case as:

1. Lagna is in an even sign and its degrees are greater than 15.

2. Sukla Paksha birth

Moon in Aslehsa is yet to traverse 10deg18min in cancer. Starting dasha is

of Mars and dasha balance remaining is 9 years 3 months and 8 days.

Briefly past events verified using Shodashottary Dasha is as follows:

1. May 2, 1997: Ketu-Venus-Sun. Tony Blair's Government assumes power.

Venus is exalted and is eighth from Ketu showing the sudden rise.

2. August 3, 2000: Ketu-Saturn. Saturn is in 7th house of marriage

from lagna and 2nd house of family from Ketu.

3. May 6, 2005: Moon-Mercury. Third time Tony Blair gets re-elected as

PM. Moon-Mercury are placed in 5-11 axis in each other's nakshatras.

Verification using Yogini Dasha:

Moon in Aslesha, is 9th star from Ashwini. Dasha at birth is of Brahmari.

The following table gives the list of Yogini Dasha.

Future events:

Chancellor Gordon Brown's Libra Chara Dasha runs from 2005-2-19 to

2010-2-19. From Libra two benefics occupy (mercury and moon) occupy the 4/10

axis. A well placed untainted and un-aspected Amk (mercury) aspects

11thhouse of Leo from Libra.

So when will the elevation to Prime Minister fructify?

Let's consider two possibilities given favorable dashas.

Period Under Consideration

Vimshottari

Chara

Shodashottary

Yogini

December 2006

Mon-Sun-Jupiter

Libra-Pisces

Moon-Mercury

Siddha/Bhadrika

(Venus/Mercury)

September 2008

Mars - Jupiter

Libra-Cancer

Moon-Venus

Sankata/Sankata

(Rahu/Rahu)

Mr. Brown will go through a Dasha Chidra during April 2007 (his Mars dasha

will start on April 8, 2008). This Mars, although yogakaraka for Pisces

lagna is not very well placed in rasi, navamsha and dashamsha. If he is not

PM by then he may have to wait till a favorable antardasha of Jupiter begins

that will take place only in September 2008. During the current period of

Sade Sati, health issues may also come up.

- Chara Dasha Libra – Pisces runs from 2006-10-21 to 2007-03-22

- In vimshottari it is the dasha of Moon-Sun-Jupiter from 2006- 12-09

to 2007-01-02. Sun as the antardasha lord is 6th lord placed in

12thhouse forming vipareeta raja yoga. This repeats in navamsa – Sun

here is 8

th lord in 12th house. In dashamsha Sun is exalted in 11th house of

gains. Jupiter as pratyantar dasha and 10th lord well placed in all

three charts under consideration may give him the much coveted post.

- Dec 18, 2006 transits will favor Mr. Brown in these ways. Saturn

aspects 10th lord Jupiter in Aquarius. Jupiter transits the favorable

9th house from lagna and from natal moon it is in a favorable

5thposition. Mars 9

th lord of lagna aspects natal 10th lord. Bhinnastakavarga points for

Mars and Jupiter are favorable. The transits of major planets are in

favorable nakshatras as reckoned from birth/natal moon.

These transits, point out a favorable time. Mr. Gordon Brown may very well

become the Prime Minister of Great Britain during December 2006.

Manju,

Thanks for the article. A good article and although

the event is known to happen as you pointout at the

beginning of the article, when that may happen is not.

This is a prediction that has no statistical pointers

to the possible dates( At the time the article was

written). Hope your prediction comes true.
