Guest guest
Dear Pratap ji, May I kindly request you (and others like you who have chosen a birthtime, over their documented one at birth) to clearly indicate what kind of data they are providing and if possible also give their documented data and source (someone's recollection when they were 30something or someone else when they were 90 something, family record, etc). It can save people who are serious about astrology to make a choice whether to spend time over such data or not. Lot of people on forums like these tend to take posted data as accurate and go to work on those and spend enormous time sometimes for nothing. The tell-tale sign of manipulated data is generally a birthtime recorded upto seconds! But sometimes even 'rectified' time is given in minutes and thus can lead to confusion. Please note that you personally may be perfectly happy with your birthtime and if it makes for a better fit on what you want in your horoscope, but thought I would sound a general caution. Thanks! Guest guest
Dear RR ji, In my case there is no official record of birthtime. My mother who is still alive tells me that it was about 10pm. I couldn't determine for sure if war time was in effect in my place of birth or not. But more likely it was. Therefore approximate time will be around 9pm without any rectification. I have rectified my tob based on my marriage date, birth of my daughter, (using knowledge imparted by Shri Sanjay Rath in his book COVA etc, and some theories I came up with based on marriage dates of 70 or some charts.). Then it was confirmed by a couple of eminent KP astrologers like Shri Raichur ji, Ash of KAS group etc. My astrology knowledge is not adequate to say that this tob is perfect. I would not mind anyone attempting to correct this further. Let me give a couple of hard dates for someone to verify my tob. 1. I was married on July 21, 1968 at 11am at my place of birth. 2. I left India on Jan 20, 1967 about 9pm from Bombay to come to USA. 3. I got my bachelor's in chemical engineering in May 1966. 4. I got my master's in chem.eng in Jan 1968. 5. I started my first job on January 27, 1969 at 9 am in New York city. 6. My first job ended on May 7, 1976. 7. I started my second job on May 10, 1976. 8. My last job started on Oct 22, 2001 and ended on Feb 14, 2004. 9. Bought my first house on June 27, 1974. 10. Bought my second home on June 29, 1983 where I still live with my wife. 11. I am the eldest and I have two brothers and two sisters. 12. I have strong gambling and speculative tendencies. I am still involved in stock market although in final round I have never won and everyone tells me that I will never succeed in speculation (lord of 5th and 12th Venus in 7th?). I always tells myself that I will prove otherwise. For me 'failure is not an option'. I would appreciate if you look at this data and put your stamp of approval or suggest otherwise. I wholeheartedly believe that it is a waste of astrologer's time and energy without a perfect time of birth and that is why I did spend a lot of time rectifying my tob to best of my knowledge which is not much. Eagerly awaiting your response, Regards, Pratap Rohiniranjan <jyotish_vani (AT) hotmail (DOT) com> wrote: Dear Pratap ji, May I kindly request you (and others like you who have chosen a birthtime, over their documented one at birth) to clearly indicate what kind of data they are providing and if possible also give their documented data and source (someone's recollection when they were 30something or someone else when they were 90 something, family record, etc). Guest guest
Kaneria ji, So basically what you are saying is that your 10:40 PM time floated around earlier without all this explanation (which should always accompany your requests for readings or when offering your chart for discussion and illustrations like recently). This clearly indicates the problem and saves people time. I hope you do not consider an unreasonable request. Despite spending so much time, you still do not seem happy with your rectification. Why else would you ask me to as you put it, "put the stamp of approval...". Why would my stamp of approval satisfy you after you have used Sanjay Rath ji's techniques and of all these other individuals and some techniques researched by yourself? All it will generate is discussion, disbelief and heartburn! Trust me :-) Please note that the basic technique you are using relies on matching certain hard-date events with certain combinations that jibe, conceptually. These would be very ayanamsha sensitive and sensitive to interpretations as to which combination or alternative do you believe in or someone else would believe in, either by pure faith or experimentation. This also assumes that astrological combinations are rigid and have nearly zero play (tight tolerances -- which your engineering background would immediately realize as not being the case) They are perhaps like the formulation of certain polymers or compounds where the ingredients are the combinations and the product is the hard-date event. Does this make sense? Since your birthtime by your mataji's recollection is around 10 PM (more so if it is 9 PM IST if WT was in effect, whereas your personally selected time is 45 minutes after the recalled time, I must say you are a brave man! Wish you all success!! RR , Pratap Kaneria <pkaneria wrote: > > Dear RR ji, > > In my case there is no official record of birthtime. My mother who is still alive tells me that it was about 10pm. Guest guest
Dear RR ji, Time I just gave was 20:46:55. I thought it translates to 8:46:55 pm, close to 9pm. Thank you for your efforts to write your scholarly email. I am sorry that I opened my mouth. Guest guest
Kaneriaji, I was not trying to curb your spirits or as you say -- preventing you from opening your mouth :-) I have neither authority nor any personal need to interfere in that. However, I was also trying to clarify the confusion that your stating an epoch as if it was the birthtime could lead to. I hope that is clear, Sir. In addition to what you perceive as a rounded time of birth (10 PM) there is the issue of the War Time. I am not certain if your birthplace was utilizing Wartime or not. Atlases do not mention it as an exception, other than Bengal, Assam and Bihar. But that is no guarantee, depending on the size of your birthtown. Your best bet would be to get that clarified from a local source or local records if those existed. So depending on whether you are using IST or WT, your closer to 9 PM stated time could be either 15 minutes off the stated or 45 minutes -- depending on the units (standard or war) used by you. Hence it is important to clarify when giving a birthtime on internet. Hopefully an astrologer/astrology student like you would appreciate that as a reasonable caution which I was trying to sound. As to rectification, they always remain dicey at best for the reason I stated which were simple common sense observations -- nothing scholarly about those as you chose to qualify those :-) I have seen people go to pieces (I am sure you are made of sterner stuff by your own admission) when birthtimes are not known with certainty. Fortunate are the ones where even the birthdate is not unambiguously known. Would your mother not remember if clocks were turned ahead around then. This being such an unusual (once only) event in India, I am certain she might be able to recall. This would at least reduce the one hour uncertainty from your mind. I would not rely too strongly on what the commercial software utilize because I am sure they did not research thoroughly (would be an impossible task) each and every place in India or the rest of the world to make sure the time changes they use are accurate. A healthy scepticism when using commercial software goes a long way, I have learned the hard way! All the best in your endeavours. If you do find out about the WT, please do let me know privately or publicly so that I can note the correction in my software. Guest guest
Dear Pratap Ji, The time rectification done by you is almost near to precision. All events tally properly with the chart we get from it. Regards, Ashutosh - Pratap Kaneria Monday, 13 November, 2006 19:10 Re: <caution about manipulated birthtimes> Dear Ashutosh ji, I sincerely appreciate your verification. I can now stop worrying about the TOB being right. May I know which ayanamsa you follow ? Regards and Thanks, Pratap astrologerashutosh <astrologerashutosh (AT) (DOT) fr> wrote: Dear Pratap Ji, The time rectification done by you is almost near to precision. All events tally properly with the chart we get from it. Regards, Ashutosh - Pratap Kaneria Monday, 13 November, 2006 07:30 Re: Dear RR ji, In my case there is no official record of birthtime. Eagerly awaiting your response, Regards, Pratap Rohiniranjan wrote: Dear Pratap ji, May I kindly request you (and others like you who have chosen a birthtime, over their documented one at birth) to clearly indicate what kind of data they are providing and if possible also give their documented data and source (someone's recollection when they were 30something or someone else when they were 90 something, family record, etc). Thanks!
