Guest guest
Dear Amrutha ji, Sai Ram. I will give you the meaning of that sloka with a rider that it doesn't apply to the caste of birth but the mental make up of the person. This sloka comes in the Phala Sruti (Result of listening to Sri Vishnu Saharsranama Stotra). The meaning of the sloka is: Brahmins will get Vedanta (Brahma Jnan), Kshatiryas will get victory, Vaisyas will get plenty of money and Sudras will get comfort. Those who are interested in Brahma Jnana are Brahmins. So, if one has such spiritual leanings, he will get the ultimate knowledge. Kshatriya is one who fights (for dharma) and he will get victory in war. Vaisya (business man) will get plenty of money and a Sudra (Agriculturists and other Tradesmen like metalsmiths who are physically employed) will get bodily comfort. This sloka has a great occult meaning. If you are aware of Abraham Maslow's Needs Theory (a part of management), physical needs come first. (Swamy Vivekananda mentioned that we can't teach philosophy to an empty stomach). So laborers and tradesmen must flourish. Goods must be sold and bought and that will happen only if the businessmen get their margins. The society will flourish only if the law and order is maintained and the society is protected from internal and external enemies. After all the physical, social needs are met, the human being will try to realise his self-actualisation needs (to understand his real I) and that is represented by the Vedanta. Since Vishnu is all pervading, is the actor, action and the result of the action, the above sloka is indeed fitting. Constant chanting or remembrance of Vishnu Sahasranama Stotra will firmly establish the realisation that we all are pervaded by Vishnu (literaly means all pervasive). This philosophy is also in tune with Sri Isa Upanishad, which asserts in the first sloka itself that the whole universe is pervaded by Isa, the Lord. With best wishes, Swamy ayurveda, "amrutha_naveen" <amrutha_naveen wrote: > I would like to know > the meaning of the following phrase..which I couldn't find in the > link sent. >
