Guest guest
SEVEN DANGERS OF LIFE Don't Do's After Meal Dinesh Vora [Danger 1] Don't smoke- Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking ten cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher). [Danger 2] Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit one to two hours after meal or one hour before meal. [Danger 3] Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food consumed to be hardened and thus difficult to digest. [Danger 4] Don't loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted and blocked. [Danger 5] Don't bathe - Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach. [Danger 6] Don't walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live to be ninety nine. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake. [Danger 7] Don't sleep immediately - The food one intakes will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric and infection in the intestine. -- Rgds VallabhaN

Guest guest
If you don't mind me adding to this.... How you eat your food is even more important than what you eat. Even foods, which normally cause greater imbalance, will be digested reasonable well if the proper rules are followed. Likewise, if you eat the correct foods in the wrong way, your digestion will be compromised and gas, indigestion and the formation of toxins will follow. If you follow these food habits and choose the correct foods then your digestion will be maximized and you will experience optimal digestion. 1. Chew your food until it is an even consistency before swallowing. 2. Do not eat while being distracted by television, excessive conversation or reading. Keep the mind present and pay full attention. 3. Do not drink cold drinks just prior to or while eating. This weakens digestion. 4. Do not drink large quantities of liquid during meals. This also weakens the digestive fire. 5. During meals it is best to sip only a little water or wine. 6. Eat only food prepared by loving hands in a loving way. This increases the vitality giving quality of the food. 7. Make eating a sacred ritual. Take a moment to relax and say grace. This makes the body receptive to your food. 8. Following your meal take a moment to let your food digest before going on to the next activity. A short walk is recommended. I think the walking is debatable! 9. Eat at a moderate pace until you are ¾ full. 10. Allow 3 hours between meals to allow your food to digest. 11. It is best to eat your largest meal at noon when digestion is the strongest. 12. No sweets after your meals. This stops digestion!

The argument in favour of "not walking" is not clear to this author. His logic is: In a car engine certain momentum is necessary for ignition to start and sustain the speed of the engine. Same way, the movement of the muscles in the stomach as a result of walking gives momentum to the mechanical mixing actions inside. And increase of pulse as a result of walking pumps more blood, which when walking stops, supplies to stomach where need exists. Yes, if there is some problem with heart, walking may overload heart, but that is an exception. Person with weak heart, angina problems, should eat light leaving empty space. The word empty space brings in another fact. In any chemical plant, even in water distribution system in high-rise apartment buildings, any air bubble makes fluid flow erratic and slow. 100 steps walking after food is equivalent to burping given to children after bottle/breast feed. mother holds baby near shoulder and gives some pat on baby's back so that air entrapped inside the stomach gets released. This ensures absence of colic, bloating etc. In the same manner, 100 steps walk causes removal of air from intestines and from stomach in the form of burping and also through flatulance, which gives relief and aids better digestion. Net is full of info. One should test everything on his logic and experience first.
