Dear Amarnath ~ this one is going in my "spiritual" folder in my nightstand drawer, so that everytime I am in so much pain I have to go to bed, I will remember to get it out and read it and contemplate it, and visualize all of this happening. Can you tell me any more about Amma's recommendations about Relaxation? Is there anything on Her website about this? Is this another technique, like the I Am Meditation, that is taught at the ashrams or retreats? And who is Stuart? (Sorry to be so bold, but it appears I've missed quite a bit.) Guest guest
Namaste Linda, To me every word of Amma is a teaching; but the inspiration for practicing a specific phrase of Amma must come from within; and is different for everyone; it need not be forced; either you do it or not; however, some initial effort may be needed. Remember, the goal of all spiritual practices is to minimize thoughts, to replace all thoughts a with a single thought of God, to merge with God as love, silence, awarness. "Amma also suggested that the students spend 10 minutes a day in meditation, imagining that all the cells in their body were becoming relaxed and that everything inside and out was becoming peaceful." ~ above from: http://www.amritapuri.org/amma/2006/609question.php "Drop all your regrets of the past and relax. Relaxation will help you gain more strength and vitality. Relaxation is a technique through which you can catch a glimpse of your real nature, the infinite power of your existence." ~ Amma Stuart( www.satsangwithstuart.com ) is actually an advaita teacher who we stumbled upon looking for a therapist for Samarpana; first we tried about 25 different spiritual/energy/counseling healers; then after the six months at Amritapuri, we found Stuart; we feel with Amma's Guidance and Blessings; Amma has many helpers and She knows how much we fear medical approaches. Amma gives what is needed. Stuart is an excellent therapist in many ways and has become "our friend"! And one of his clients( with many years of counseling ) remarked that one session with Stuart was worth about 100 or more of the conventional approach( which I am sure also has its place in the overall scheme of things ).
