Om Amriteswari Namah

Ammachi, please guide and bless us as we open our

hearts to the teaching of the Sri Guru Gita. Divine

Mother, stand with us, as we grow in our Selves and as

we continue to open our hearts and our minds to your

Love and Light. Amma, show us how to share your

inspiration and your Love for us with the World.

We dedicate our study today to Peace on this Earth,

and to healing the hearts of humankind.

Guru Gita Study Session 36

Verse 174. The Lord Said:

Devotion to the Guru is the most sacred abode. All

other holy places are fruitless. O Goddess, all

centers of pilgrimage, in fact, live in the Guru’s

feet, nay even in one toe.

Verse 175.

Repetition of the Guru Gita brings infinite rewards,

including victory. But one who recites it should

discard all trivial actions and low places.

Verse 176.

Japa on an improper asana and trivial actions bear

poor fruit, while undertaking a journey, or facing

danger from the enemy on the battlefield.

Verse 177.

One devoted to a Guru obtains victory by repeating the

Guru Gita. She attains salvation if she recites it at

the time of death. All her work, wherever she be, is

accomplished.

Verse 178.

Do not disclose the mystery that I have revealed to

you. Make every effort to keep it as a secret, O One

so dear to me.

Verse 179.

Do not even think of imparting it even to Swami

Kartikeya, Ganesha, Vishnu or any of my chief

attendants. I have spoken the truth, the pure truth.

Verse 180.

Reveal it only to one whose mind is mature, and full

of reverence and devotion. O Beloved, you are my very

Self.

Verse 181.

Never even think of imparting the Guru Gita to one who

is without devotion, a cheat, a degraded wretch, a

hypocrite or an atheist.

******Thus ends the Guru Gita, which occurs in the

dialog between Shiva and Parvati in the latter portion

of the Skanda Purana. This is offered to the Supreme

Guru, Lord Dattatreya.******
