Guest guest
Om Rishi, fully understand that you need japa mala for Pranayam meditation and 108 is not what you desire. Its ok to go for 54 beads or 72 beads if you feel strongly about it. In this case, the mala needs to be custom-made. Just a note that 108+1 beads is traditionally used for japa malas as most people recite 108 rounds of mantras in one sitting. The number 108 has spiritual significance in Sanatana Dharma. But depending on the Pranayam method or technique you're using and more importantly, personal needs and the fact you know yourself better, then by all means follow your instinct to go for 54 or 72 beads in a strand. Yes a mala consisting of 4 mukhi beads is good for meditation as it gives wisdom and enhances spiritual pursuits. Again, its entirely personal preference if you want to go for a Kantha mala with Nepali beads or smaller size Java beads. Kantha "garlands" are usually for wearing or adorning deities. Rosaries as in japa malas are for counting mantras or wearing. However there are no strict rules to say one can't use Kanthas for japa. If you feel very drawn to using Kantha Malas, then its a stage in your life where you will definitely benefit from the energies of a kantha mala as opposed to a japa mala. For custom-making, pls contact Ms Neetaji at rudracentre (AT) hotmail (DOT) com and she will respond to you with appropriate suggestions. You can discuss your requirements with her. Ms Neetaji will give you better guidance.
