Guest guest Posted October 31, 2006 Report Share Posted October 31, 2006 International Summer School for Jain Studies (ISSJS) is a non- government; non-profit project funded by handful of Jain philanthropists in USA, Canada and India. It has conducted summer schools in 2005 and 2005, and is now inviting - Advanced graduate level students with special interest in Jainism - Professors teaching related classes or conducting Jainism related research to apply for the 2-month Summer 2007 program. Selected participants from North America will be provided stipend, air travel to India and boarding and lodging in India. Those from other overseas countries may also apply, however they will need to provide for their own expenses. The program, conducted at major Jain centers in India, includes - Interactive classroom lectures using modern teaching aides by eminent Jain scholars. - Live interaction and visits to Jain homes and family ceremonies, temple worship, rituals, festivals, pilgrimage and visual and performing arts. - Interactions with Jain monks and eminent personalities and access to Jain literature.
