<this is being posted based on the new definition given by someone

recently and publicly, that a message/query posted by the original

poster on several boards cannot be considered a Crossposting(or as

typed by the lazy or the keyboard-challenged, the Hunt and Peckers

amongst us as Xposting or even Xpostin' -- same number of keystrokes,

by the way!!>

One side expresses adamantly (without meaningful proof or elaboration

other than stretching the ancient 'shastra' term) that jyotish has

always been pronounced as

Science by sages so, T-H-A-T it must be! The other side cautiously

and conservatively (as all jyotishis should because really, THE

UTILITY OF Jyotish is about finding a way or method of RISK

MANAGEMENT intelligently as we go through our lives! Ponder on that!)

disagrees more gently that let us not get too emotional and just

explore this *fantastic* concept and construct of reality first!

Much of what is discussed, written (and *read*) publicly (web, lists,

articles, books and detailed technical readings) does seem to

emphasize and highlight and ^showcase^ the seemingly logical part of

jyotish. Since X is in this house or that nakshatra or toying with

that factor in the navamasha or whatever must make it all sound

rather logical without it being questioned! However,

such 'technology' depends on some observed (empirical) facts and

factors and some big time symbolism including mythology! The modern

symbolism of jupiter and venus for instance being the teacher and the

siren, respectively! But Bhargava-Shukracharya was the one-eyed

preceptor of demons (bad boy!) who knew how to make the dead come

alive AND to whose gurukool, even the Big guy, Brahaspati had to send

his son Kutch! Did The epitome of WISDOM, all KNOWING Jupiter not

know that his son would fall for Devyani and that she would be

smitten enough to become his beloved? Did Shukracharya, one eyed

though He may have been -- did not know what Kutch was up to or would

be -- and how it would it all end? I think this beautiful love story

must be really absorbed by us jyotishis churning out readings and

remedials by the hundreds without really understanding the intent,

scope or potential of Jyotish!

If these DIVINE ancient PRECEPTORS did not know, then how were they

any better than one of us who just armed with our enthusiasm and

BELIEF hound all these jyotish forums/fora and claim implicitly and

sometimes explicitly to having a direct-line to what God has in store

for us and others? Or how our Karma would exactly unfold? If those

PRECEPTORS, Brihaspati and Shukracharya DID KNOW and yet had to go

through what they had to or worse still send their CHILDREN to

experience, including DEATH -- then the message indeed is that no

matter what you do, remedially or what you wear around your neck or

finger or your mouth (mantra -- but I am wondering if with all the

tongue and belly piercings that we are beginning to be visually

assaulted by these days, maybe there may be a role for an emerald pin

stuck into one's tongue to improve the weak mercury in the second

house (CAVEAT: THIS IS SARCASM AND NOT A REMEDIAL RECOMMENDATION BY

ROHINIRANJAN OR JYOTISH-VANI OR CRYSTAL PAGES!)!

I am sorry if I am offending your peace and quiet but the itchy rash

I get when I see so much hypocrisy in silicon jyotish upsets me.

Hence I am scratching violently and publicly to relieve myself.

Strangely, it seems to be helping! Hopefully not just me!!
