Guest guest
The Vedas versus Darwin Statesman News Service KOLKATA, Oct. 23: Mr Alfred B Ford, philanthropist and great-grandson of Henry Ford, released scientist and philosopher Michael A Cremo's controversial book, Human Devolution: A Vedic Alternative to Darwin's Theory in the city today. "We (Cremo and I) share an appreciation of Vedic culture and a guru, so I was extremely excited when I was invited to release his book," said Mr Ford. The great grandson of the founder of Ford Motor Company, Mr Alfred B Ford, is working on a number of India-centric projects. "I am working on the Himalayan Ski Village, which is in Himachal Pradesh. I am also trying to develop the Mayapur centre (of ISKCON). It is difficult, given the rules and regulations of the West Bengal government, but we are working on it," Mr Ford said. He said he was also working in partnership for an aerial geo-survey project called Mcphal Alcock in West Bengal and was looking to invest in real estate, "perhaps in West Bengal, but certainly in India." He also said that the Ford Motor Company, of which he is a trustee, is involved in charitable work that the company wants to expand internationally, and also to India. Michael Cremo's book challenges Charles Darwin's theory of evolution in that Cremo believes "we did not evolve from matter, instead we devolved, or came down, from the realm of pure consciousness, spirit." The scientist-philosopher's earlier book, Forbidden Archaeology, was received with much scepticism and opposition by the scientific community in the USA. "Some people think theology and science are separate… but I am looking for truth; wherever I find truth, whether it is, in science or theology, I write about it," Cremo said. The book tour taken up by the scientist in India started from Kolkata today and will go to several other Indian cities. http://www.thestatesman.net/page.arcview.php? clid=22&id=161666&usrsess=
