Dear Rohini ji

I do not think the real Brahmins.. the real learned ones of

yesteryears had any reservations regarding transfer of Knowledge. The

Realized ones will never be scared as they have confidence.Fear is

lack of Confidence.Sruthis are the ''heard'' ones and in reality

they are the ones heard from Atma rather than books.

But as you suspect ,during the later stages, the semi-learned and

half baked might have misinterpreted and started keeping the

knowledge unto themselves or keeping it as a secret.

I see knowledge to be kept as a secret only under certain

circumstances.a)Marma Vidya in Martial arts.If it is given to a

chandala(not by birth) then he will definitely misuse.b)One who may

use principles in Jyotishasthra for harming others -But this is

impossible and not a worry.Jyotish cannot be mastered without Tapas.

(Eg only those who understand Rashi Chakra can understand Vargas -

Others will se them as seperate entities. They can only study anatomy

without a clue about physiology).

But i fail to see why Gayatri should be hidden. Some say it should

not go in wrong hands!!!.What is this mantra for?.One is seeking

discriminative intelligence through Gayatri -Thus even a wrong hand

will turn out to be good through it!!!Then what to scare!!.

But Brahmin is the one like Chandrashekhar ji who says Light

(Knowledge) cannot be hidden. We should have Samabhavana before

aspiring for spiritual ascent.
