Guest guest
This depends a lot on the age of the children. The younger ones especially need a lot of movement. Deep knee bends are good. Stand up, put arms out, inhale, exhale and come into a squatting position (crow pose). Do at least 10 repititions. Make them believe they are an animal or on a journey, etc. In other words, make it fun. Do bow pose by rocking - inhale back and exhale forward. Do left nostril breathing. I can be more specific if I know the age. Guest guest
hi ray regarding your question re: ADD/HD personally, i use a number of herbs depending on the child, along with dietary changes, nutritional supplementation and other techniques such as NLP, educational biokinesiology, TFT (thought field therapy) and modifications or changes to the child's learning and home environment, exercise etc; i also might refer out for massage, chiropractic, cranial sacral etc ADD/ADHD can present some confounding and confusing symptoms - for e.g. in some kids suffering from hyperactivity a stimulant such as coffee can be very effective to calm them right down - normally we might think that stimulants might worsen the situation, but if you think about it stimulants like ritalin are prescribed with some degree of clinical effectiveness (as well as pretty bad side-effects) - in these cases stimulants help the child organize their mental and emotional energy better, and thus promote a more balanced focus state, without the side-effects - theoretically these kids will have a pinned iris, suggestive of parasympathetic dominance, at least to wolcott's thesis - in ayurveda we would probably say this is kapha to reduce the pitta-type, cooling nervines such as passionflower, vervain, skullcap, wood betony, linden, catnip, motherwort, mandukaparni, and lemon balm may be effective; also consider alteratives such as barberry that act on the liver and blood for vattika conditons (usu. dilated pupil) choose nervine restoratives such as ashwagandha, reishi, siberian ginseng, milky oats and damiana, with more of a focus on the bowel and adrenals; for fear and anxiety i might also consider fresh anenome tincture, valerian, hawthorn flower etc for kapha, clearing mucus and enhancing digestion with stimulants such as holy basil, pepper, calamus etc, with more a focus on the lungs and stomach note that combined or alternating approaches need to be taken in some kids, depending on the signs and symptoms other, more general things to consider include: Supplements (150lb/68kg adult dose given) ovitamin B complex, 100 mg t.i.d. ovitamin C, to bowel tolerance oiron, 20 mg b.i.d. ocalcium/magnesium, 1:1, 800 mg each b.i.d. ozinc, 50 mg daily ochromium, 200 mcg t.i.d. oEPA/DHA, ensures proper neural development, 1000 mg each daily Diet oeliminate refined foods oelimination/challenge diet for common allergens, e.g. dairy, wheat, citrus, eggs oorganic produce and free range meat only Aromatherapy ocitrus, melissa, chamomile, hops, lavender, rosemary, sage (choose based on doshas present) Topical osesame oil massage (some kids however will reject this outright) Counseling oBiofeedback oEducational Biokinesiolgy (Brain Gym) oNLP Additional factors oheavy metal toxicity (aluminum, cadmium, lead) ovaccinosis oenvironmental toxins (at home, school or workplace) ocandidiasis and immunodeficiency oexercise best... todd Caldecott todd (AT) toddcaldecott (DOT) com www.toddcaldecott.com
