Kedarnath shrine closed for visitors

Gopeshwar, Oct. 24 (PTI): The holy Kedarnath shrine, situated in the

Garhwal Himalayas was closed for the winter season amidst vedic rituals

today.

The chief priest recited vedic hymns and blew conches to signal the

closure of the shrine early today, sources said.

The shrine, situated at a height of 3,584 metres will reopen for

visitors in the month of April next year.

The Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines in the region have already been

closed, while the Badrinath temple will be closed on November 16.
