Would you not expect a cardinal showing more activity than a fixed? What have you observed when in the capricorn rising (tropical) if saturn is in aquarius and where aquarius rising, uranus in capricorn and saturn in capricorn (not in the same chart)? A group of scientists and fornmer astrologers came to the conclusion after 25 years,that astrology doesnt work. Western astrologers reacted angrily. None of these otherwise fine minds had even tried to be familiar with astrology (any kind), so their opinion about astrology, with all due respect, carries as much weight as the viewpoint of a person uneducated about science about the work of those noble laureats! If you are serious about this business of astrology and science, one good refernce will be Eyesenck and Niases Astrology Science or superstition. There are some significant flaws in the methodologies of some of the studies and the book only examines western astrology but is more balanced than some other off the cuff articles and books (including Sagan's writings against astrology). Again and again, this kind of discussions will arise and go on. The fact of the matter is that many of us are very passionate about it but really do not have the time, energy or resources to devote full time to the Gigantic task of upholding astrology (all clothes!). The most Herculean attempt was probably made by the Gauquelins, but I sometimes wonder how much better and efficiently their time and resources would have been spent if they also included some of the jyotish factors into their research. There was a Danish (?) research described in Eyesenck's book where someone tried to correlate the profession of individuals with their sunsigns (tropical) and failed miserably, statistically. Does that sound a complete exploration when they did not take into account the role of sun vis-a-vis the 10th house (or other houses of work and earning) even in the SIGN varga! Or the association of the 10th lord (for simplicity) with the sunsign itself. Is it fair to decry astrology based on studies like these, which even an amateur researcher like me can spot from a distance and shoot down? The double-brick wall around astrology is built by bricks of insecurity and ignorance. One from outside the camp, the other from inside the camp!!
