Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta, Navratri celebrations at DYC Canada reached new heights this year, thanks to the presence of Pandit Bhanu Prakash. Sri. Ram Vakkalanka planned out this years program as well. While it included elements from Last year where Nada Seva and Purana Shravanam from Devi Bhagavatham was introduced more additions were enabled this year by Panditji’s presence. The participation from devotees was also very good this year. Every evening – weekday or weekend there were between 40 and 75 devotees during the 10 days. The highlight this year was the introduction of Kumari Puja and rendering 8 different kinds of service – recitation from the 4 vedas, upanishad, puranam, stotram and panchangam shravanam. Also for the first time kalasham was installed and dieties invoked. The puja area resembled golu with idols and pictures. Ofcourse we were excited and would check the Dattapeetham website every day for the prompt updates and be further inspired. Every evening commenced with all devotees assembling at 6:30pm for Sadguru Pada Puja along with Ashrama prayers and the 6 bhajans in the traditional sequence. This was followed by Devi Puja. Ashtotaram for the diety of the day was recited by Panditji with flower, kumkuma and Lemon archana. Devotees followed with Namaha chanting “Sri Mata Namaha” or Namaha for the diety of the day. Devotees also had the opportunity to do kumkuma archana and offer it to the diety. Panditji recited from the 4 vedas and the upanishads. This was followed by stotra recitation and purana shravanam as explained by Sri. Ram Vakkalanka. This was followed by Panchanga shravanam from Panditji. Local artists would then render nada seva to devi. This was followed by Kakada Aarti and singing of dola. The evening would end with anna prasadam. On Durga Ashtami, Maha Navami and VijayaDashami Panditji decorated pumpkins and make bali danam with the same. He also explained the reason for the same. Ofcourse as always there was the good assistance that Panditji received from our Asst. Pandit Gayadutt Supersad. The amount of enthusiasm and energy that spread during Navratri starting with Sri. Bhanuprakash and spreading to all the devotees was truly amazing. Parents and children alike were very involved in the Kumari puja. We saw new faces – old and new devotees were all present. Our prayers and enthusiasm continues to grow as we eagerly await our Sadguru Sri Swamiji’s arrival and the celebration of Guru Poornima soon..
