Dear Gurujis,

I am finding moon longitude being oscillating for ephemeris data with the interval of 30 seconds. Can you please tell me how to get the precise longitude with no such oscillations. FYI: I am using SWISS EPHEMERIS and "swetest.c" to get the planet's position. Also I am using LAHIRI ayanamsa.

Please tell me how to get correct longitude values? Common sense is moon cannot back and forth and it has to always travel to next longitude position with increase in time!

Thanks,

Rakesh

Dear Rakesh, Namaskar.

The Moon does oscillate. This is because of the Moons close proximity to

the earth, and its northern and southern latitude movements which causes

the apparent motion to 'wobble'. Knowing this, the nodes of the moon

also move both direct and retrograde, and this is called the 'true node

calculation', whereas the assumption that the nodes motion is always

retrograde is called the 'mean node calculation'.

Yours sincerely,
