Guest guest
I guess that Shirodhara does have an effect upon the Pineal Gland. Actually, we should not use the term 'Pineal Gland" here. Instead, we shud talk about "Agya Chakra". The term Pineal Gland is a lop-sided and incomplete description because it is just one of the 'physical' manifestations of the Agya Chakra. I am not a doctor but I guess the very purpose of Shirodhara is to affect the Agya Chakra ! ! Otherwise, what is purpose behind pouring oil from a distance on the head ???? Why cant the oil or the liquid applied on the head by hand ? Just as we apply hair oil. I feel the pouring from a distance lets the oil-dhara vibrate and create the frequency which is required to the establish contact with the Agya Chakra. Please note that the Chakras and Kundalini are NON-physical structures. Actually, the real form of Ayurveda is connected to the advance science & technology of Kundalini & the Chakras. So, most of the times we may not find explanantions in physical realm/plank. Guest guest
It would seem to me that Shirodhara would have more of an effect on the pituitary. The oil lands on the thir eye point. The 3rd eye is the 6th chakra and thus associated with the pituitary.
