the fertility related events in the body are controlled by hormones

secreted by pituitary and testes/ovaries.

while inbalances in hormones can be reduced by herbal approaches as

discussed in "Iron rules of health", the importance of the drugless

approach wherein breathing techniques are used to achieve balance

through changing swara could not get adequate coverage.

Several women who went into premature menopause between 32-40 used to have one nostril more or less choked up, or sinus headache as the loyal friend. author felt that the predominant breathing through one nostril only could disturb the polarity of the body and cause hormonal disturbances as a long term effect. To taste this hypothesis, author taught some patients a breathing technique similar to anulom-viloma but with longer Kumbhaka followed by rapid deep breathing through both nostrils together. both nostrils open fully as a result of special anuloma-viloma with longer kumbhaka. thereafter as both nostrils get used for breathing, more oxygen in the blood results. This was found to have very benificial effect on glands leading to regular cycle spacing and adequate flow. The result indicated benificial balance in hormones may have been achieved. This was neither a planned experiement, nor a sponsored trial for publication.

For scientific mind, effect of breathing on mental states and especially hormones, EEG etc is also brought out by a scientific article with a number of further literature citings at

various pranayama techniques are well demonstrated both

through TV channels and camps, scientific studies are also being

carried out in academic institutions and modern science hospitals.

Drugless approaches are finding more popular following.
