Guest guest
Dear All, Namaste!!! God works in mysterious ways. For many years I tried to get Lakshmi Shank from Hindus and all I ever saw was Lightning Whelk. Well, I finally got the REAL Lakshmi Conch, not from a Hindu, but from a non-Hindu, and I am as happy just the same. And I can say, Thank God for them, because otherwise I could still be looking fruitlessly. Actually, it seems that most of the genuine Lakshmi Shank dealers are non Hindu. Even the one and only Naga Mani I ever saw belonged to a non-Hindu, and he would never sell it for any price. In fact, I looked in Sanskrit Dictionary and there is no word "Hindu". It is an English word meaning the people who come from Indus area and Sindhu River. It is not possible to get Lakshmi Shank without blessings of God, and God works in mysterious ways. Who supplied my Lakshmi Shank was sent by God, regardless if they came from Indus Valley. And anyone selling genuine Lakshmi Shank at fair price is blessed helping good service. Most of my gem suppliers also don't come from Sindhu River. Same is true for my workers, craftsmen and clients. Best wishes, Richard

Guest guest
In Shastra there are many mentions of Shank, as Lord Vishnu is always shown holding a Shank, and that is traditionally a Lakshmi (Valampuri) Shank. But as to specific mention of Valampuri right-hand opening shank we are planning to dig into this soon. We have some learned members, such as Pt Tata, who might be knowing of specific slokas regarding Lakshmi Shank. I hope they can share with us. Guest guest
---Dear Surya, Namaste!!! It is like a normal shank, but opens on the right spinning opposite to normal with ridges in the conch cavity. Scientific name: Sinistral Turbinella Pyrum.
