Mercury and Sun in 7th House

Dear all,

Mercury in the 7th House from Lagna is often touted as a beneficial.

Saravali says it makes the native a learned man and beautiful and

obtains him a beautful and wealthy wife.

However, Mridula choudhury even as describing Mercury in such a

position as extremely being beneficial to the chart in matters of

marriage, says such Mercury is often responsble for two marriages.

This is so since Mercury owns dual signs as well being a jumpy

planet.mercury is famous for the duplicity and dilemma.

In other words, Mercury is not so very beneficial as it meets the first eye.

On the other hand, Sun in 7th is seen as choosy and divisive and said

to be leading to Divorce. That is , there is almost an unanimous view

that the Sun in 7th is not a very conducive position for marriage,

even as some authors do not like to accept him as Malefic but

condescending him the status of Cruel planet.

But, Sun is a very disciplined planet and has the capability of

influencing the entire chart into its own way. Thus, it denies the

native the chance of remarriage and often, gives only one marrige,

making the same somewhat dry and monotonous if not unhappy.

In other words, sun too is not what it should be, as it meets the first eye.

In view of such background, I am looking into the charts where the sun

or mercury or both, along with or without other planets , are posited

in the 7th House.

Hence, I request all to send me such charts, whether those of

celebrities or their friends etc, with a small note commeting on their

family life.

Hope I will recieve good replies from all of you,

best regards,

Kishore patnaik

Hi Dear Kishore,

Thanks for your explanation. This is an interesting statement: "Maraka

sthana is an important aberration in astrology," and this along with your

example given. I have paid more attention to maraka sthana via health issues

and it's valuable to hear your thoughts on this aspect of it. Along with

what you've said, it's also interesting that Sun is depositor of Mars in his

chart and that Mars is vargottam there. Also in Rasi Sun's exaltation is his

10H, and owns his 10H in Navamsa.

What does 'Bhavartha ratnakara' mean?

I haven't studied Narayana Dasas enough. It is interesting though to note

that the only enemy to his lagnesh Moon is the 6th and 9th lord Jupiter

closely conjoined with Moon in the house of public opinions ;-) And I'm not

sure what he rode was a wave of popularity! ;-). Also fascinating to see

that 9H is Pisces, and the Narayan dasa was Pisces - Scorpio.

I like your thoughts here that to over ride difficulties, he needs to have a

connection with Yoga karaka Mars. This is valuable/educational for me to see

this use of Yoga karaka and in applying this to other charts.

Thanks for your help and thoughts about this.

Kindest regards,

Patrice

Hi patrice,

Thanks for the compliments. I have noted your observation.

Maraka sthana is an important aberration in astrology.

The other day I was talking with one of the members over phone when

he has questioned me about George Bush.

George Bush is having Sun in his Maraka sthana(12th)Yet , he had

rided a wave of popularity to win the difficult elections in 2004.

Most of the dasas such as vimsottari or 2/12dasa do not indicate any

good for him at that time. He was quite perplexed by the chart.

While I have not studied the chart,a lonely Sun in 12th sthana

indicates good power and authority thanks to Bhavartha ratnakara.

Moreover, for such things you need to look at Narayana dasa rather

than Vimsottari. Hence, I asked him to look at N'dasa and asked him

whether it is connected with Mars.

To our surprise, the dasa that was goingon was indeed scorpion(I think

pisces-scorpio)This is so, because George Bush is a cancerian and to

ride over difficulties, he need to have a connection with Yoga karaka

who is Mars. Hence, the reading.

Hope this helps in understanding the Maraka sthanas.

Hi,

I guess we should get on with the normal business as usual...no hard feelings!

if someone is interested, the misunderstanding has occured due to

the fact that my rahu aspects the AL from a house of Venus - Mrs

Wendy must be having Venus as her AK :) - and this is the time when

Rahu is getting a little hyperactive, thanks to the fact that his

shift of house is on cards

Dear Kishore and All,

A (very) quick note before I switch off and get some rest...past midnight

here now.

I think for my part the #one culprit is Mars pratyantar which commenced just

a few days ago. Transit Mars, combust transit 8th lord Sun, certainly speaks

of quick flare-ups, I would say...rash Mars acts in haste!

Dear Kishore,

You Wrote:

//You have led a very contended life, but your talents were not recognised

much.//

At first I'd thought you might have misinterpreted the chart as, certainly,

in regards to work (the only talent I seem to have), I've always done fairly

well...promoted very quickly in every job I've ever had and, in my nursing

days, I was always picked out (above others) to demonstrate how a particular

procedure was done, and so forth.

However, on mulling over what you said, I realise you were correct in your

assessment. I work very hard building and maintaining the website as well as

this group...often work too hard it seems! But there can be no denying that

this is not at all recognised by my family and those close to me as

legitimate work. The general consensus seems to be that I'd do better to

scrub the kitchen floor a little more often instead of playing on the

computer...

But that's okay...it's just the way it is! And, for the most part, I'm

usually too busy typing away to take too much notice of those around me

anyway. Mind you I'm aware of others attitude, but not TOO perplexed by it

:-)

Contented life--

Well it's not always been an easy life, but I've managed to maintain an

inner contentment for the most part. Of course grief comes to us all from

time to time, and I've certainly had my share...

Best Wishes,

Mrs. Wendy

Dear all,

I am really happy having received tremendous response for this mail

and I was sent 30 to 35 charts for analysis.

However, I notice with regret that the Regulars and the Respected

Seniors are consipicuous by their silence(except two or three people)

Obviously, I would have been much pleased if the Seniors have

participated rigorously and guided in the debate.

Whatever I am doing, I am doing for academic betterment in mind with

the clear and sole intention of larger interest of the Science at

heart and these debates will take us further in our further

understanding of the Vedic astrology and the Dictums seen by the Vedic

seers.

I hope the Seniors will enlighten us with their valuable opinons on

the subject and encourage such academic discussions.

Hello. I just saw your email.

With 00 07 Aquarius Lagna, Sun RULES my seventh house, placed in the sixth,

and Mercury with Saturn are IN the seventh. I have been married and

divorced twice. Both marriages were short (5 and 6 years) and neither was a

particularly happy marriage. I have been single for over 20 years now.
